Product Information

Few basses are as flat-out cool or have as much powerful tone as the famous StingRay. When it was introduced in 1976, it was the first bass to feature active electronics and advances such as a 6-bolt neck joint, contoured body, superior neck truss rod system, and rock-solid bridge to keep it on top of the pack. Constructed with a select hardwood body, maple neck, Schaller BM tuners, and 3-band active EQ, this version features dual MusicMan humbucking pickups with 5-way switching for an even greater range of sound. Includes hardshell case.

Great tone. NOT the same as single PU

I got this about 6 months ago and it's been great. Yes, you can get the single MM PU sound if you want, but with the coil taping options and the EQ, you can sculpt the tone anyway you want. Anyone that says the neck pick-up doesn't make a difference hasn't played this for any amount of time. You can get tones that sound JUST like a Stingray, and then tones that approach other basses and then totally unique, warm, thumpy tones that just rock. Honestly, I rarely use position 1 with the coil taps and usually have it either on 2 or 5. It's the perfect bass for me.

Lee, Myung....this bass can do all

No matter what your style, no matter how fast or technical your playing, this bass can cover you. The tonal variety is simply astounding. Even a low-end amp will sound good with this baby plugged in. 3 Way EQ plus Double Musicman humbuckers = monster of maddness. From Geddy Lee to John Myung, this bass can match their master tones, and even has many of its own. After all, it is a Musicman, and as a bass, is the best on the market.

The legendary Stingray is now EPIC!

The Music Man Stingray double humbucker is hands down one of the most versatile basses on the market. Not only do you get the beautiful, distinctive "Stingray tone" that the single humbuckers spit out, but you also have that same amazing quality in other pickup variations. The neck on the rosewood model feels very natural. It didn't take any time to get acclimated to the way it plays. The newly patented Compensated Nut delivers the confidence that each fret will play in it intended register. The pickup selector is transparent when switching positions which is a must when playing on stage. I am extremely impressed with the Fixed EQ knobs since it allows me to compensate for any faults in the amps that I plug up to. Not only does this bass shine on stage, but it is the preferred instrument when in the studio by myself and all my clients. This is one of the only basses that sound stellar when running DI to the board. Slight compression from even the lowest quality compressor makes this axe sound phenomenal.

WOW...

Excellent construction from heavy-duty parts, a neck that's one of the fastest and smoothest out there, and a meaty, grunty bottom end combined with unmistakeable MusicMan funky highs. The variety of sounds with the new dual pickups and five-position selector switch make this my fave bass, period. They should have done this years ago.

Incredible!!!!

This bass is incredible. It not only looks totally sweet but can pump out any tone imaginable. There is a HUGE difference between this and the single humbucker, so don't listen to anybody who says there isn't. It is an absolutely incredible bass.
