  • great all around value

As reviewed by Jon McCormick on 11/3/2010

I am 35 years playing bass, and have owned just about every brand you can spend money on- purchased a Stingray V fretless H/Piezo last year and was overall extremely satisfied with the product. I decided to add a fretted bass and now have just taken delivery of a new Stingray V HH, rosewood fingerboard. There is a huge variety of sounds in this bass, the HH is much improved in my opinion over the single pickup bass. Quality of construction is excellent, it feels solid and plays great. I play primarily jazz and funk, and I can't see how these two basses would fail to do the job. Thumbs up to the people at Musicman for putting together such a nice bass for such a reasonable price.

  • Effortless

As reviewed by Matt on 1/23/2011

I love this axe. Picked it up a few weeks ago and I feel like I've been playing it for years. I've got it set-up just the way I like it and it plays so smooth and effortlessly. Great tone. The positives are too many to mention -- 5-way pickup selector, built-in preamp with fully sweepable EQ for treble, mids and lows, perfect workmanship and attention to detail and a classic shape. I also love the unfinished maple neck. I give it 4 stars only because it is very heavy. This thing easily weighs 20% more than my Fender J. My shoulder and upper back start feeling the pain after 30 minutes of playing. I highly suggest a 3" strap! Also, it's got a lot less room for popping -- you have to make sure you hook your pinky exactly between the pickups, otherwise you'll jam-up between the enormous pickups and the G string.

  • The Best Sounding Best Playing Bass out their

As reviewed by Brendan Halbohm on 8/23/2006

This Bass is amazing. When I first played it, it played so smoothly and gracefully that I didn't want to put it down. I play it all the time and I can't get enough of it. Ernie Ball MusicMan did a great job in the re-desine and I especially like the Dual pickups
