Few 4-string electric basses are as flat-out cool or have as much powerful tone as the MusicMan StingRay. Introduced in 1976, the StingRay was the first bass to feature active electronics and advancements such as a 6-bolt neck joint, contoured body, superior neck truss-rod system, and rock-solid bridge, all of which keep it on top of the pack. The StingRay is constructed with a select hardwood body, maple neck, Schaller BM tuners, 3-band active EQ, and MusicMan humbucking pickup.

I walked into guitar center expecting to walk out with a Fender Jazz Bass and played it too, but after taking some advice from a store salesman I tried out this beast and I instantly changed my mind. This bass just felt better and had more range with tones than the Fender Jazz. The neck is perfect and fast too, also the finish on the StingRay was great looking and unique compared to all the Fenders in the store. I am more than happy with the choice I made and I think you will be too if you go with a StingRay.
I just bought this great bass 2 weeks ago and when I played a string it just growls like a monster! Everything is good, its a lil bit heavy but I got used to it in a couple of days. This bass is versatile in all genre but I think it is really good for funk/rock which expels more punch/growl. The only thing I am still mad about is that my bass doesn't have a marking that it is made in usa and I already contacted the EBMM company and they think that they forgot to put the mark. Also the hardshell case is too big coz it doesn't fit in the compartment of my car. Other than that BUY this bass, it will be the only bass you will ever need forever.
Highly recommended this is the best bass I have ever owned. I have been playing bass for about 25 years & have owned four basses: Rickenbacker, BC Rich Eagle & a 1978 Fender Precision. Most of that time was spent playing my trusted 1978 Fender Precision. After much soul searching I decide trade the old Fender in on a Sting Ray. What was I waiting for? This Sting Ray is the Fender on steroids. The action & neck is pure silk. The tone & response to finger play is remarkable. I have had to adjust my playing technique to play with a lighter touch. The pickup is well balanced. I can now play chords & ring harmonics and they don?t get lost in the mud. This Sting Ray will take my playing to the next level. I will never regret trading in my old Fender for this Sting Ray.
