Continuing the tremendous success of the JP Series—the JP12.

The JP12 is the newest collaborative effort between John Petrucci and the Music Man research and development team. It features a combination of top appointments, including an extra slim profile mahogany neck, with a flatter 20" radius ebony fretboard and medium jumbo stainless steel frets. Combined with a basswood body, mahogany tone block and maple top, the JP12 is the ultimate heavy metal tone machine.

Controls include two three-way toggles perfectly wired for the Custom Dimarzio LiquiFire and Crunch Lab humbuckers, in addition to a Music Man/Fishman piezo system bridge pickup and a Custom John Petrucci Music Man floating tremolo system made of chrome-plated hardened steel with solid steel saddles. And the Schaller M6-IND locking tuning machines keep the JP12 perfectly in tune under even the most punishing circumstances. Includes case.

As reviewed by Jonathan Amaral on 2/21/2013

I bought this guitar with cold hard cash, NEW at my Guitar Center for around 1500$ In January. It's been one of my dream guitars for a long time, but after owning a Fully Loaded Mystic Dream and comparing them both, this is EASILY the better guitar out of the two. People who are turned off by the painted neck, please give it a shot, it's not sticky whatsoever and feels great no matter how long you play it. At the nut the neck is 14mm thick, which is ridiculous, the neck is beyond thin with that small curve to feel like you're grabbing onto something. And I've had my action set at 1.4mm on the low side, 1.2 on the high side with no buzz, such an incredible set up I can achieve on it. That combined with the cutaway, and the knobs being far away makes this one of the easiest playing guitars I've ever laid hands on. Sound wise, this guitar really packs a punch. I chose this over the JPXI for it's slightly warmth and less compressed sound when comparing them both side by side. The XI definitely sounds awesome but between the two would be centered more for Rhythm. Whereas the 12 is inbetween both Rhythm and Leads, contributed by the Basswood Body, With the Mahogany Neck and Tone Block, and Thick Maple Top making it one of the most tonally balanced guitars you'll ever hear. The pickups are your signature JP Crunchlab/Liquifire Combo, sporting a large palette of tones from the saturated and articulate hi gain sound, to the shimmering cleans with a pull of the tone knob. Surprisingly the middle position gives a very fat and full Les Paul sound, whereas the neck feels like the highlight electronically with it's well rounded sound and slight midrange kick. Very good for separation of notes in large chords. The Piezo is such a useful tool, many musicians who use these guitars don't make use of this feature, but even on a distorted or crunch sound, the added bite and spank of the Piezo can be blended in with your crunch tones and lead tones giving you that little extra versatility you wouldn't normally have, also can act as a killswitch for certain situations. Tonally this guitar sets the bar extremely high for any other instrument, packing all my personal favorite sounds into a single instrument. Aesthetically it is such a pleasure to look at, looking a dark wine red to an almost black up close. And revealing it's sparkle up closer inspection and a burst under flash in photos and well lit situations. Even turning Purple under some lighting. And one last thing to mention, the 20" Radius is such a subtle change when you first play it, you don't notice it until you go back to a Tele. There's nothing quite like it out there, thankfully my 17" Ibanez Guitars aren't much of a departure, but there's so much thought put into making the JP12 the easiest playing guitar I've personally every played without investing in a top notch custom instrument. Give it a shot at your local Guitar Center/Musicman Dealer
