  • Great instrument

As reviewed by Roberto on 6/23/2009

I own a Bongo 6, in Sterling silvier with black PG, and a HS configuration. I use to play blues/metal/ and sometimes jazz music, and I find this intrument very versatil for any kind of music, thanks to the 4band EQ, you can go to any place tonally with it. The new pickups that music man use in Bongos sound great crystal clear. This bass is a very loud monster! As usual in MusicMan instruments the quality in the building is awesome...the neck shape is very easy to get use to...it's a very stable neck thanks to the finish of it, that it is not the usuall unfinished neck as in many MM instruments, this one comes painted in the same color of the body with a satin finish. If you're thinking in a 6 string bass, you have to go for it, you will not regret it! I deaply recomend it. Thank you MM for finally build a 6 string bass.

  • Impressive

As reviewed by Jon McCormick on 9/15/2010

I have been a long time Musicman player, with both a Sterling 5 and Stingray 5 as my main basses. I had been tempted by a six for a long time, and after watching and reading reviews thought I would try one. No Bongo of any variety in my home town, so my local GC guys fixed me up with an order. This bass is much different live than it looks on the website, the pictures don't do it justice in my opinion. It is really a powerful sounding instrument, the lows seem to sustain forever and have a lot of color. If you have not played a six before, I would suggest you get your hands on one before you buy, the neck is formidible, but the bongo radius makes it managable for me. Very light, resonant, and extremely flexible controls. There are many sounds in this bass, just a little adjustment changes things a lot. Check out Stan Sargent's review to see what I mean. Overall, I would say the Bongo is really well designed, even though it is a departure from the more traditional style of bass these guys have done so well with. I am very happy going out on a limb with this, and am sure it will help to expand my playing. Thanks to Ernie Ball!

  • Incredible no-hype bass that truly delivers!

As reviewed by Nick on 1/27/2011

I never really had an interest in Music Man basses. But then one day I came accross the 6 string Bongo Stealth and saw that John Myung from Dream Theatre also used a Bongo and I figured that it MUST be a good bass. I bought the Stealth Bongo with twin humbuckers from Beaver Felton at Bass Central and it is BEAUTIFUL!! It literally looks like a stealth fighter jet because the whole thing is black! The best part is that this bass plays and sounds better than how it looks! This is the best 6 string bass I have played. I have owned Yamaha, Tobias, Steinberger, Ibanez, Fender, and others and this bass is one of the best as far as playability, weight, and sound! You will not find any negative reviews on this bass. The 4-band preamp provides for awesome tonal range and it packs a loud punch so you know you will not get lost in the mix, especially behind a wall of rock guitars. You can go from Jaco-type tones to modern slap/rock tones to even Ken Smith-type sounds! This bass DOES NOT dissapoint!
