An exciting signature model that lets you instantly go from incredibly heavy electric guitar to sweet acoustic sounds without having to switch guitars.

The Music Man John Petrucci Ball Family Reserve BFR 6 electric guitar from Music Man was designed in conjunction with the world-renowned Dream Theater guitarist. This exciting signature guitar features an alder body with a bookmatched maple top with a mahogany tone block from under the bridge to the neck pocket. A select maple neck has an adjustable truss rod and 5-bolt mounting for perfect alignment and stability. The John Petrucci BFR 6 guitar's sculpted neck joint allows access to upper frets and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard has wide, high-profile frets and Custom John Petrucci Shield position markers and a mother-of-pearl BFR inlay at 12th fret. The Ball Family Reserve BFR 6 is loaded with Schaller locking tuners and a custom John Petrucci tremolo.

The John Petrucci guitar gives you all incredibly heavy electric guitar tones, but also gives you the option of great sounding acoustic guitar tones. DiMarzio LiquiFire neck and Crunch Lab bridge humbuckers deliver the extended lows and stinging treble tones that Petrucci uses. A standard 3-way toggle lets you select neck, bridge, or both pickups. A push/pull tone control gives you the option of having all 4 coils on or just the 2 middle coils. A second toggle (on the upper bout) lets you select the standard magnetic pickups or the Piezo acoustic pickup, or both! The under-the-bridge Piezo electric pickup lets you instantly go from rockin' electric guitar tones to sweet acoustic sounds without having to switch guitars. A separate volume knob controls the piezo pickup. Dual jacks give you the choice of running output either magnetic/stereo, or piezo/mono, or both. The Music Man LTD John Petrucci signature guitar comes in a hardshell case.

The Ball family is the last of a dying breed, a family business making guitars and basses exclusively in the United States. Ball Family Reserve is a celebration of their heritage in instrument craftsmanship that features some of the finest figured tone woods and finishes available. These rare heritage pieces are offered in limited runs and makes available to the public instruments that were previously reserved for the Ball family and their loyal artists.

As reviewed by Christopher Lampe on 1/24/2011

This is hands down the best guitar that I have ever played on. I ordered 1 of these before thanksgiving and it took almost 2 months to get it in, but it was worth the wait. I went to slide up the neck for the first time and everything about this guitar is just so fast that I couldn't stop at just going up a full step my hand went up 4 steps. The tone of the pickups is amazing to boot and with the bahama blue burst color this guitar not only plays amazingly well, but it looks increadable as well. If this review did not limit me to a 5 star rating it would be 20. Would expect nothing else for the price. This is easily the best guitar that I have ever played and I have played several different gibson's, some PRS's, tons of fenders, and even a few others, but everything else just falls short. In short if you can afford this fine piece of musical equipment, buy it you won't be mad you did. If you can't save up enough money till you can. 20 out of 20.

  • No Wonder Petrucci Sounds So Good!

As reviewed by Shannon McDowell on 12/14/2011

If I could give it six stars, I would. And this from a man who owns a Les Paul, PRS McCarty & a '62 Strat. Those guitars would only receive five stars. I had to lay out a months salary, but the guitar I got in return for my hard work is more than worth it. With the way it's wired, you can do an entire gig with just this guitar, and I do. I perform the acoustic parts of Sister Golden Hair by America and the next song in the set is Baracuda by Heart. And all I do to change over is switch off the Piezo bridge pickup and go to the neck, pull the coil split knob to single coil, press one button on my pedal board and that's it. The quality, fit and finish are second to none. The cherry burst is a real looker, and I always get guys coming up to me after the set and asking about it. Thank you GC for providing the perfect tool to ply my trade.

  • Best guitar I've had!!!

As reviewed by RENE DIAZ PINA on 3/3/2012

A great guitar is something a little subjective, what it works for others may not work for you, but for me this guitar is great!! Quality is excellent, materials and finish are also excellent. It's so versatile, you get 24 frets, tremolo, two excellent humbuckers and piezo pickups, so many tone options, easy to reach switches, two outputs, and the guitar really is a masterpiece. With the Piezos you get an excellent acoustic sound. You can set the output to humbuckers only, piezo only, or humbucker + piezo at the same time in the same output, you have independent piezo and humbuckers volume. You can also route the Piezo Output to one amp and the humbuckers to another one. The neck is fast and easy to play, bends are easy also. Music Man pays a lot of attention to detailes. And the case is also excellent. I also would give it 6 stars if I could!!
