  • Awesome Axis

As reviewed by Fishbone on 5/19/2009

Well, I had to get rid of the Fenders. They were collecting too much dust. My new Axis S.S. is now the only guitar I own. It's like having two guitars in one. I can now play everything from twangy country to Metallica with the same guitar! The birdseye maple neck is unbelievable. I've owned Fenders, Gibsons and a PRS and this Axis plays better than any of them. Also, I like the easy to string vintage tremolo and locking Schaller pearl tuners. If any guitar ever deserved a 5 star rating, this is it.

  • Takes a bit of getting used to, but then...

As reviewed by Rob in Fresno on 12/31/2009

Picked this up at GC Fresno a couple months back. Somehow never noticed when I was trying it out that the body was small (kind of like a 3/4 size body, but it's a full guitar). I sit down a lot when I play, and it did take some time to get used to the feel since I have played Gibsons my whole life, which always fit comfortably on your leg. Once that was out of the way, this guitar is basically amazing in most ways. The neck is as fast as any I have ever played and it is incredibly smooth. The playability is excellent. The other major component is the pickup switching capability is probably the best I have played. They are extremely diverse, with the single coil positions being especially nice. You can pull a ton of sounds out of this gutar. The build quality and the finish are both beautiful. And I just love the "Made in San Luis Obispo, California" stamped on the back. In short, this is a high quality instrument that I feel rivals PRS in overall features at less of an impact on your wallet (still not cheap, but it should last forever). Basically a very nice cross between a Gibson (say SG, not Les Paul) and a Fender Telecaster.

  • Great Guitar

As reviewed by Geoff on 9/30/2010

I love this guitar. Absolutely amazing. I would say that one of the problems I have had with it is that I break strings on it. I play kind of hard, so it can take a beating. I like playing metal and its fun to shredd on. It is a very versitile guitar. You can get a twangy telecaster sound, fender strat sound, or a heavier sound from a Gibson. Worth the price.
