This pedal is compact and sturdily built (all steel). The action is very smooth as well. I was concerned that the pedal would feel too small, but I find it's comfortable and has a decent sweep. Keep in mind it will require a little more control because of its size, but any new pedal will require some getting used to. What many have said of this pedal (as well as the volume only version) is that the sound comes on too late and too fast (more like a volume on/off than a gradual sweep)... this is true, but ONLY if you leave it exactly as you buy it. There are many forums discussing this as well as documentation on Morley's website, but you can adjust the position of the LEDs and LDRs to customize your sweep (for both wah and volume). It took me probably 10 minutes or so of trial and error fiddling, but I converged on a great, even sweep. I think I lost a little bit of peak volume along the way, but it's nothing that can't be fixed by turning up the volume somewhere else in the signal chain or on your amp and would only be an issue if you're always maxing out your amp and pedal chain (read: you shouldn't be doing that). I only got the wah version for fun, but I actually like the sound more than I expected. It could give some cool tone shaping to my sound. I play bass, by the way.
I've always wanted a combo wah/volume pedal as a space saver. The fact that this is 25% smaller than your traditional wah, was even more appealing. The pedal works well. I had heard that with some combination wah/volume pedals, their volume pedal didn't sweep down to actually mute the guitar. This one doesn't have such a problem. As for the wah, it sounds good. I like its sound the best when used with distortion. It doesn't sound as good to my ears for clean tones. There is a volume knob on this pedal. One thing that isn't clear in the product descriptions for this pedal is that this volume knob only ADDS volume. So at 0, it is at 'unity gain'. I keep it at zero because otherwise, it raises the volume of my clean channel instead of pushing it into a slight overdrive. This knob would be useful is you wanted the wah to act like a solo boost on a cleaner channel. On the dirt channel, I don't hear a tonal difference with it boosting. Overall, the tone of the wah is good but I've heard better. However, I only use wah maybe in 5% of my playing so I can't justify the investment in a Fulltone Clyde that also takes up more precious pedal board space and does NOT double as a volume pedal. I'm actually using the volume pedal feature on this more than the wah, so I think of it as a volume pedal with a wah feature as a bonus. As for the wah/volume toggle switch being on the side, I'm getting used to that and finding that I like to hit it with my heel so that my toe can be in position to seamlessly start pumping the pedal as soon as it is toggled. I would have liked to have been able to adjust the sweep of this pedal with an internal dip or better yet a second knob. And I would have liked more of a vintage sweet sweep of the Clyde pedal but this thing still sounds good.
This pedal is exactly what it says, a real space saver. The wah function is on a par with my VOX wah, although the range is not quite as much. The volume function works well also. The only negative about this pedal is the angle your foot has to make to go to the full extension (bottom) of the travel. But, the size of this thing and the fact that it contains two pedals in one with a very easily accessed switch (works BETTER than my VOX!) makes this one a real winner in my book. It will have a spot on my board for a long time!
