The Moog Little Phatty Stage II is a keyboard synthesizer that puts you in control of a 100% analog signal path. Like the Stage and Tribute Edition before it, Little Phatty Stage II synth has 2 ultra-stable Voltage Controlled Oscillators, and a Voltage Controlled Filter. Other versatile features include an external audio input, CV and KB gate inputs, and a full MIDI controller. Additionally, the Stage II keyboard boasts great features including MIDI over USB, MIDI Clock Sync, an arpeggiator, Tap Tempo, a stylish new black finish, and totally cool blue LEDs.

The addition of MIDI over USB makes this performance and sound sculpting tool even more powerful. Combined with its warm analog sound, ability to process external audio, and its intuitive performance, sound design and control features, the Moog Stage II makes a great addition to any full-on analog or laptop/soft synth setup. You can also connect the keyboard synth directly to a computer running the Little Phatty Editor/Librarian.

MIDI Clock Sync allows you to synchronize the LFO and arpeggiator rate to the tempo of your MIDI sequencer, drum machine, or software. Sample and hold, triangle, square, sawtooth, and ramp wave modulations can now be perfectly timed with your rhythm tracks and the arpeggiator.

The arpeggiator is a great performance feature with applications for musicians in all genres. Its wide variety of uses is sure to find a place in any style, and, of course it also syncs to MIDI clock. Tap Tempo brings LFO and arpeggiator tempo sync functionality to situations in which there is no MIDI clock. Top it off with a distinctive black finish, making the Moog Little Phatty Stage II a real eye-catcher.

The Spirit of Moog, Repackaged

By EMwhite

Comments about Moog Little Phatty Stage II Keyboard Synthesizer with Blue LEDs:

Everything you need, nothing you don't. The Little Phatty represents the last product that the late, great, Bob Moog had a hand in designing. His wish? To put the power of subtractive Analog synthesis in the hands of more people. Packed with power from booming and punchy basses to evolving swells and leads and everything in between. Software upgradable for new features such as Sample+Hold modulation, a built in Arpeggiator, and more, you won't get a better one stop shop for that powerful Analog sound. Don't be fooled by so-called 'modeled' Analog. Despite being digitally controlled, all parameters are tweakable via high resolution (0..4095) potentiometers. This is not your father's 0..127 midi, but yes... a full compliment of Midi via DIN or USB in addition to Pot mapping, Midi CC control and more, all onboard.

Comments about Moog Little Phatty Stage II Keyboard Synthesizer with Blue LEDs:

Its name says it all! What I love about this mono synth is how easy is to create sounds. It has a 100% analog signal with the ability of digital control. Also, if you want this unit to be the center of your CV rig, there is a new mod by Moog that you can have installed which will give you CV outs! Amazing little machine!

Moog LP

Comments about Moog Little Phatty Stage II Keyboard Synthesizer with Blue LEDs:

I have been using Pro Keyboards since 1997 and have always wanted a Moog. Unfortunately, when I started out Moogs were all used, very expensive and few had Midi. The Little Phatty does not cost alot more than a vintage Moog but has all of the modern features that you need. I use this on every song for a Bass Line, Lead or just a strange sound. The Filters are great and the Midi is as good as any other synth that I use. The only complaint would be that the out-put could be a little hotter. Since it is Analog and very fat, I run it through a DBX 1066 and that solves any issues for recording. I have not used it for live yet, but when I start playing shows again this will be my only modern synth that I use! It is very reliable and the blue LEDS will look very cool on stage. If you are synth player/programmer, this is one of the best deals you can get!

Tried it

By Garry Miller

Comments about Moog Little Phatty Stage II Keyboard Synthesizer with Blue LEDs:

So I play in a rock band (signed), working on completion of our first album. I own a Motif XS7 (brilliant), and several other keyboards, none of which are analog synths. I needed a new synth to primarily play slashing leads not available on my VST's (I want distinctive sounds, not done by any other musicians). I am also running out of hands and time to swith patches on the Motif, as it is a complex littel beast. I purchased the Phattie Stage II thinking I could do just about any kind of lead sound I wanted. Come to find out that, other than the overdrive feature, it sounds just like monophonic synths have always sounded -- like a monophonic synth!! The overdrive is probably a cool feature, but I ran out of time playing with it, and it still did not give me the screaming leads I was looking for. Although I could come up with some pretty good, cutting leads, it just did not have the versatility I was looking for. Certainly not much in the line of anything cutting-edge new. While the oscillators are very bright with superb control features, and the filter is awesome, it still just sounds like synths did 30 years ago (Mini-Moog). The second issue I had was with the arpeggiator. While it does have some options on the sequence of notes, and a decent latching feature, I found the arpeggiator was nothing out of the ordinary as well. Pretty simple, and not very useful for my needs. The third issue was with the factory patches. There are 100 on board, and nearly half of these are bass patches. This is great if you are doing dance, techno, or playing bass for your band. But for a lead player, in the rock domain, these were mostly useless. Most of the other factory patches are not much more than noise-makers, very few useful leads to hit on the fly. While the presets are re-programmable, I was able to do little more than make them more or less fuzzy, and once you tweak the controls, the presets are difficult to get them any better than the factory guys programmed them. On the positive side, the blue 'capture' LEDS on the main controls look and feel very cool. The look of the keyboard is great with blinking lights dazzle when you change patches. Bottom line, I ordered a Dave Smith Instruments MOPHO X4. Hope it does more than just sound like a 30 year old analog synth. I need a synthesizer that doesn't sound like a synthesizer.

Comments about Moog Little Phatty Stage II Keyboard Synthesizer with Blue LEDs:

This is an awesome synthesizer, but i just wanted to let you know that the actual color scheme is different from the picture. The sides are black instead of gray, so its all black with blue LEDs. I'm not complaining, it was just a nice surprise when i opened the box.
