The Theremin is one of the oldest electronic instruments, and the only one that you play without touching it. Moving your hands in the space around its antennas controls pitch and volume. Like the Ethervox, the Etherwave is an authentic adaptation of inventor Leon Theremin's original design. It's easy to carry and set up and fun to play.
The Etherwave is a quality Theremin with a design that retains many characteristics of the original theremins, including a five-octave pitch range and reliable spacing between notes for sophisticated playability. Antennas are nickel-plated 3/8" brass tube and cabinets are furniture-grade hardwood. The Etherwave is fitted with an adapter for mounting on a standard microphone stand and is designed for use with a musical instrument amplifier such as the Moog TB-15.
The Etherwave is shipped with a DVD that contains two video tutorials: Mastering the Theremin with Lydia Kavina, and Clara Rockmore, the World's Greatest Theremin Virtuosa.

I got this because Jimmy Page Made it look funny, i thought i should give it a try, and im sooo happy i bought it, its the most incredible instrument i've ever had.
when i found out about the theremin, i thought it was the coolest instrument in the world and it is. I've played theremin and owned this model for 8 months. this was everything i thought it would be and more. when i first set it up it was very confusing and the directions weren't very clear how it works. like tuning the instrument to your arm length, or it will function differently in open spaces (stage) opposed to closed spaces (room). the dvds show u how it works, demonstrations, and minor techniques. BUT THERE IS NO CORRECT OR INCORRECT WAY TO PLAY IT. it can be very temperamental but once you figure out how everything works (volume, tone, tuning) , you'll be fine. it sounds amazing and is sensitive to every movement for the control you want. it is the hardest instrument to learn. I played karaoke music and played along with the theremin and did scales. I recommend not buying the theremin plus cuz its a waist of money if you don't have other moog synths. and don't buy the amp cuz it sounds just as good on a guitar amp or keyboard amp or (my setup) drum amp.
I wish it came in Black or Cherry wood. It works very nice.
