Yeah.. "I Threw it on the GROUND!"
The old cable that is...
The first time I bought this cable was about two years ago,
back when I started I thought a cable was a cable.
But after running instruments, effects, vocals, and just about every thing you possibly could through this thing.
It just seems to make it sound better..
There is no "noise" , there is no "interference" , there is no "Is it plugged in? o.O
All there is, is the simple fact that i changed EVERY CABLE I OWN to performer 500 :)
If clean is what you want, Performer 500 is what you get.
Otherwise dream on if you think you can find a better cable for less.
Why in the world did I only buy one Monster 500 cable for my stereo recordings? I've been known for my frugality over the years, just ask any of my past girlfriends. But when it comes to recording my 9 foot Bosendorfer concert grand piano for CD, I should have gone all the way and bought two cables for my pair of TLM 103 Neumans. Thinking Monster cables were too expensive to buy two, I only bought one and used my other (non-Monster) mic cable for the second channel. After recording for months in my studio and beginning the mastering process, I focused in on the smallest of audio details, getting just the right volume and EQ adjustments to bring my recordings to life. To my horror, I began to notice during quiet passages of my compositions, one of the channels (the non-Monster side) had the slightest hint of high frequency hissing and crackling. After moving patch cords around and away from AC lines hoping it was some sort of inductance intrusion, I realized the audio interference was RECORDED onto my MASTER TAKES! I was able to EQ most of it out but of course at the expense and loss of some of my high end frequency detail. Coming upstairs from my basement studio after hours of tweaking the problem, I got on line and ordered the second Monster 500 mic cable. Moral of the story, non-Monster cables should be seen in the garbage, not heard on your recordings. And as for bachelor musician advice... take your date to McDonald's but always treat your recordings to Monster cables.
I hooked up an Audix OM2 mic using this cable and an identical mic with a Planet Waves Cable. Both sounded great but the monster you could hear the difference. There was a tighter sound and it was more clear. I switched the mics to see if there would be a change in sound: there wasn't. The difference was clear. Then I used a planet waves cable to hook up to a powered speaker. Same test. Same results. Monster makes a great product. Thats why they charge a premium. But if you are a smart shopper like myself you can find this cable at a GREAT price. I know i did.
