  • Monster Jazz Instrument Cable Straight-Angled

As reviewed by bleujazz3 on 4/23/2008

Having more capacitance than a Rock Performer 500 cable, the Monster Jazz Performer 500 Straight-Angled cable is a bit darker sounding in the sense that it rolls off the treble somewhat. Jazz players, myself included, usually aren't looking for an excessively bright-sounding cable, that would be the earmark of a Rock Performer 500 cable. The Monster Jazz Performer 500 Instrument cable is non-directional as contrasted to the Standard Series Monster Instrument cable, a definite plus. Downside of straight-angled plugs means you must plug your straight plug into whatever most needs it; if your other jack on your amp or guitar requires a straight plug, you're out of luck. Advantage? Angled plugs still fit into most flush-mounted guitar jacks, and recessed Fender Strat jacks. Forget it if you're trying to play a Tele with a recessed hat-style jack, or plugging into an amp that has raised body components around the jack. Answer? A good number of cables to answer each situation, amp and guitar. Always good to have spare cable in case one should quit on you, just like tubes for your amp. It's just good common sense.

  • Good cable but.....

As reviewed by StringNthings on 7/16/2007

I've been using Monster Jazz cables for quite some time now and probably wouldn't have considered using anything else until Guitar center stopped carrying them in stores. The whole great thing about Monster Cables was the lifetime warranty. If you ever had a problem with your cable you just take them to a Guitar center, trade them in, and get a brand new cable at absolutely NO CHARGE! But now since they only special order these cables you have to do the exchanges through Monster via mail which can take up to 8 weeks. I don't know about you but I can't go that long without my cables...
