Mojave Audio MA-301FET Large Diaphragm Multipattern Condenser Microphone (108727900)
Availability:

High-quality, solid-state condenser excels on vocals, voice-overs, pianos and more.

The MA-301fet is a multi-pattern large diaphragm, solid-state condenser microphone. Based upon the popular MA-201fet designed by David Royer, the MA-301fet adds a 3-posistion pickup pattern selector, a15dB pad and a switchable bass roll-off.

Utilizing a 3-micron gold-sputtered capsule, high-quality Jensen audio transformer, military-grade FET and custom designed low-noise resistors, the MA-301fet performs at a level reminiscent of some of the best loved classic condenser microphones. Each MA-301fet microphone is carefully tested and evaluated, then packaged in its protective case with a professional grade shockmount.

  • The MA-301 Is A Gorgeous Workhorse Microphone -- Smooth, Lush & Well-Rounded

As reviewed by ADAM LANSKY on 6/30/2014

The MA-301 is a quality multi-pattern large diaphragm condenser mic that can be put to good use in many situations & produces a great sound with nice tone-color. This mic does well with loud sources & provides excellent detail. The high-pass filter can be used without altering the mic's tone or clarity & has a natural sound to it. This mic is a smooth operator & I confidently say it rivals the AKG C414, which I feel tends to have a more dry sound. I recommend this mic for: drums & percussion, vocals, guitars, wind instruments, string instruments, & more. I had the opportunity to experiment with two of these microphones in multiple orchestral & chamber music sessions at the Hot Springs Music Festival this summer (2014). I put it to use on a wide variety of percussion instruments as well as a choir of about 50 people. Not everyone listens to "classical" music these days, but the truth is it can be some of the most demanding audio production any engineer dares to undertake. If a mic sounds good in an orchestral setting, it will absolutely sound good anywhere! The MA-301's multiple patterns allow for even more flexibility & maintains character regardless of pattern. This microphone has excellent clarity & detail while imparting a lovely character that I would describe as smooth, lush & well-rounded. Using this mic on vocals generates unique & tasteful results that any engineer will be proud to produce. While experimenting at the music festival, these mics took some really loud sound without any of the distortion or ugliness sometimes found in lesser-quality LDCs. I would confidently put this mic overhead all styles of drum performance & expect greatness. The MA-301 will also do very well with many types of guitars (acoustic or electric) & capture tone in a way that mixes easily. If you are looking for a solid mic to act as your primary go-to for great tone -- but want something to stand out from the status-quo -- do yourself a favor & buy a MA-301 by Mojave Audio.
