The pedal is a great pedal but it can't seem to carry the guitar signal to other pedals WELL. I put it on my pedal board and had to take the feet off it. Like most wah pedals the feet have the screws in them that hold the pedal together. I just decided to see what was inside the pedal and I noticed some weights bolted on the heel of the pedal. I don't know if they just wanted to make it feel heavier so you would think it's heavy duty or so it doesn't move all over the ground while you play it. the pedal doesn't give the signal a great boost but it dose work AMAZING if you have it connected to a couple pedal or no pedals but itself. Over all I HIGHLY recommend this pedal to anyone who wants or needs an affordable and well made wah pedal.
This wah nails the sound of a vintage Thomas Organ Crybaby I used to own. but has great features like true bypass, adjustable treadle tension, and a power LED indicator. Made in China so I guess this is how they're able to add all these features, but keep it affordable. Out of the box it feels a little lighter that a Dunlop crybaby, even though the case appears the same size and metal thickness as a dunlop version. Removing the cover plate, I notcied the Modtone had 3 weight plates bolted to the heel area of the wah, I suppose this is to give an already light wah some added weight. It's got a very sweet vocal sound to it, not so in-your-face as other wah pedals. Very good warm vintage tone to it. Great Job Modtone!
I?m so excited that I got my Modtone Wah pedal. It sounds GREAT! The feel of the pedal is smooth and has no problems. I like it because there is a LED light that tells you if it?s on which isn?t in many Wah pedals, it?s made of metal so it doesn?t break easily, Modtone has a 5 year warranty, and it?s an affordable price. The sound that comes out of it is great and I love it so much. It fits in with my setup and helps me a lot.
There's not a whole lot I need to say. It's durable, adjustable, has true bypass, cheap, effective... everything you need. The sound is beautiful for recreating any classic wah tone, from Slash's solos to Bon Jovi's riffs. Be aware, however, that this is not as powerful as some other pedals out there. For me, that's a good thing. But if you need some really powerful wah with heavy distortion, like Satriani or Drowning Pool, you might want to look into a Demon Wah or something. But for your run of the mill vintage wah, this pedal reigns king.
Amazing wah, I found my sound, and my wah pedal, 1) I love guitar center, and 2) this thing is crazy good, and its priced the same as the cheap cry baby, that's something i couldn't believe, well if your lookin' for your first wah, like I was, and you're reading this review, check this thing out, this is coming from an award winning guitarist (at my high school hahahahaha). It goes great with my vox vt100 (which is also freakin' cool) and my Strat, and not half bad with my Dean either.
After researching several pedals for several months - The pedals ranges from the Classic Cry Baby to the clyde. I purchased and so far very happy with the Modtone WAH. What sold me was the true hardwire bypass at 69.95. I play a lot of funk, blues, and a bit of classic rock - this pedal fits my style perfectly. For Metal - you may want to look at something more beefy, but for classic wah this is great and much better than the entry level Cry Baby. I also would want to recommend buying this pedal through GC - With The liberal return policy you cannot go wrong!
Actually, for the price this is the best stock, off the shelf wah pedal I've ever tried. Comes stock with an ON/OFF LED, hardwired 3pdt true bypass switch, halo inductor, easy to replace b100k tone pot, plus you can adjust the resistance of the treadle to make it easier or harder to rock with your foot. All that stuff is cool, but the best thing is that it sounds great! The frequency sweep is perfect. Lows aren't mushy, the highs aren't piercing. It's quiet and doesn't add any extra gain when engaged. It nails everything from Slash to Jerry Cantrell to Kirk Hammett and more, and it does it for the same price as the standard (tone sucking) Dunlop Crybaby.
