I went ukulele shopping a few months ago and I decided to take a look in guitar center. When I checked out the ukes the guy took out this beautiful uke from a box unwrapped it and I was like "that's the nicest design i've ever seen on a uke." The ukulele sounds really nice, a very full tone. I later went and compared it to a Koa wood at Ted Brown's. The lanikai koa wood was just a tiny bit better, but it was $250! So I stuck with the mitchell and I'm not disappointed

I have been playing guitar for a while and thought I'd try the Ukulele out. While I'm a beginner with the Ukulele, this was just a little too, sub-par, for me. It looks great, but the playability wasn't what I was looking for. It is near impossible to reach good, clean notes higher up on the neck. And bear in mind, I'm a Mitchell fan. I've had the same Mitchell guitar for over 7 years, and it still plays great. I ended up exchanging this Uke for the Cordoba 20tm-CE. In my opinion, spending a little more off the bat will keep ME happier (and not running back for another Uke) in the long run. Like I said though, looks great and will make a beginner (and someone who want's to stay in the "beginner" category) very happy. Hope this helped.

    Great Ukulele

    By Mike

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

I just purchased this ukulele yesterday. Beautiful design, great sound, nylon strings and best of all it's fun to play. I am a drummer and just recently decided to start to play the ukulele. It's a great instrument and this uke is a great way to get into it. By the way, thanks for the great service Guitar Center! Your employees are very knowledgeable and always friendly!

    Aloha Oe!

    By Aaron

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

I bought this Uke for a change of pase and it was much needed. It's easy and fun to play. Primarily being a drummer and playing a little guitar, I had no idea how to play a Uke. It was suprisingly easy to pick up a song here and there and the sound is so relaxing that if you play a wrong note, it still sounds good. Anyone that wants to play a fun instrument that is fairly easy to learn and does not want to break the bank to get start should by THIS ukulele. AHLOHA!

I play the Guitar and Mandolin. I wanted to try something different. I saw this Ukulele in a local Guitar Center. I tried it out and fell in love with it right away. Great looks, good quality. Easy to play, great sound and a lot of fun. I would recommend this Uke to anyone who might want to try something different or just starting out. I bought one for my daughter and she loves it.

    Really, Really CHILL

    By Daniel Oh

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

This instrument has very good quality sound that just makes you want to relax and take a break from all your troubles and that is if you know how to play. It's quite simple and its easy once you get chords. i got chords on google and it is similar to the guitar but different notes so if your hesitating on this dont even think twice.

Great looks & sound and VERY DURABLE!

    By Bill

    from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

We bought this uke for my one-year-old son since he wouldn't leave my guitars alone. We couldn't be any more please with it. It has a good tone (even better after putting better strings on it) and is extremely durable. It has taken tons of abuse for the past year and a half and still looks new. It is also a very beautiful uke with some nice inlays--it matches my Breedlove guitar in style. However, it has not kept my son from wanting to play with Daddy's guitars. I would definitely buy another Mitchell product after owning this beauty.

    Superb

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

Purchased two of these for my sons for X-Mas. Wow! These are absolutely beautifully constructed. Very high quality. Way better than most I've seen at higher prices. We have a couple of friends that collect Ukes, and when one saw this Uke, he could not believe how nice it is. He collects vintage Hawaiian-made and Martin Ukes and could not put this one down. Again, build quality and sound are exceptional. We play guitar mostly, but my sons have been wanting Ukes for a while. Lots of fun to play. Price is great too.

    GREAT!

    By Nick

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

I randomly had the urge to learn how to play the ukulele. I don't play any other string instruments. I bought i cheap $40 uke and learned the basic chords and decided i needed to step it up so i then bought this. It has been AMAZING. I have been playing it hard for almost 3 years and its been durable and still sounds great! I would recommend this for and level uke player!

    Love my new Mitchell Uke

    By Joanie

    from Redford, MI

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

When I was a little girl I had a toy ukulele that I carried around everywhere. When my husband found an old photo of me with my uke he decided it was time we paid a visit to GC. The moment I saw this uke I knew it was the one I had to have. Not only was it gorgeous but the sound from this little gem was absolutely beautiful. This uke looks and feels like an instrument costing much, much more. I have a Telecaster, an acoustic and a lap steel that I enjoy playing but none of them give me the giggles I get from strumming my new ukulele.

    Mitchell MU70 Uke

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

I have had this Uke for over a week now and have had some time to spend with it. It is pretty well made for the price and sounds good. I gave a 4 star rating because the description is inaccurate. It doesn't have abalone rosette and purfling. It has abalone looking decals. Not the same thing.

Great, but not below the 10th Fret

    By Robert

    from Eagle Point, Oregon

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

After playing ukulele for a few months with the beginner $40 ukulele I decided to take it to the next level and get a decent ukulele. I saw this one in the store and loved its appearance and bought it. It worked great. It is also very durable. But when I began to learn songs that when higher on the neck above the 10th it was hard to hold chord due to the strings being so far from the fret board. If you are a beginner and want a ukulele to play simple songs near the top of the fret board then this is a good ukulele for you. IF you are a player that wants to really advance and learn difficult songs I would not by this uke. I personally suggest saving up a little longer and getting the Cordoba 20TM-CE for $199. It has a great sound both electrically and acoustically(this is also electric, not just acoustic like the Mitchell above) and holds chords and notes great below the 10th fret. It also has a skinnier neck so it is easier to hold chords. I personally thought the Mitchell had too fat of a neck. Its a great uke, but I would suggest the cordoba.

      Garbage

      By Rev. Chauncey Grizzly

      from Newport, KY

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

Not one of the Mitchell ukes at Guitar Center would hold a tune for longer than a song. "Black nylon" strings are delicate and don't resonate much (broke a string tuning one of them, standard CGEA). Basically, if you want a mantle piece that barely plays, this is still over-priced. I bought a Lanikai instead. Though I was tempted by the lacquer and inlays on the Mitchell, it just didn't play well.(I tried four different MU70s).

Not the best for the money

      By Daniel Fowler

      from Kansas City

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

Honestly, if you are looking at this uke, it is because of two things: the price and you're shopping for your first. I did the same. This was my first ukulele. It was also the first I sold off (I've got five now). If you can get one used for $50, then it would be a good one to have. But even at that price I've found ones that I like better that cost less than that. What I don't like is the overall build. The details and trim are stickers, the machines are low quality, then finish is too thick (you could hit someone with it and it wouldn't break), and the neck has a weird bulge that gets in the way of fretting chords. For the same money, you can get Lanikai, Kala, or Cordoba ukes (just to name three) that are of much higher quality and will sound tons better.

I purchased this uke for my daughter and she keeps trying to pry it from my hands! It's easy to play and looks beautiful. Most of the ukes I looked at seemed a bit on the fragile side. Not this one! It has a great finish and is sturdy. I'm sure I will be purchasing another one for myself. Soon!

      A Beauty!

      By Susan

      from Bettendorf, IA

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

Recently our daughter said that sometimes she wished she was rich. When I asked what she would do if she were, one of the top three was that she'd buy a ukelele. :) With Christmas on the horizon and thinking this dream was within our reach, I did some quick research and found this highly rated and reasonable uke, and it did not disappoint. She was thrilled (made her cry!) and has loved playing it ever since she got it. It's a beautiful instrument- love the mother of pearl inlays and the shiny protective finish. It's one that will likely bring her years of satisfaction and pleasure at not much more than a starter model price. (Pre-Christmas deal was especially good.) Well worth it! Would do it again in a heartbeat~ (Guitar Center was also fabulous to work with! Our first one had a chip in the finish, but they quickly sent a new one on the way without any hassle. VERY impressive customer service on all levels. Highly recommend them, too!)
