I went ukulele shopping a few months ago and I decided to take a look in guitar center. When I checked out the ukes the guy took out this beautiful uke from a box unwrapped it and I was like "that's the nicest design i've ever seen on a uke." The ukulele sounds really nice, a very full tone. I later went and compared it to a Koa wood at Ted Brown's. The lanikai koa wood was just a tiny bit better, but it was $250! So I stuck with the mitchell and I'm not disappointed

I have been playing guitar for a while and thought I'd try the Ukulele out. While I'm a beginner with the Ukulele, this was just a little too, sub-par, for me. It looks great, but the playability wasn't what I was looking for. It is near impossible to reach good, clean notes higher up on the neck. And bear in mind, I'm a Mitchell fan. I've had the same Mitchell guitar for over 7 years, and it still plays great. I ended up exchanging this Uke for the Cordoba 20tm-CE. In my opinion, spending a little more off the bat will keep ME happier (and not running back for another Uke) in the long run. Like I said though, looks great and will make a beginner (and someone who want's to stay in the "beginner" category) very happy. Hope this helped.

Two years ago, I bought two of these ukes for my sister and me, and this summer I sent a third to my niece. We all enjoy them. Pretty look, sweet sound, perfect price, they've been ideal for us as we've all learned to play.

This was a gift. The price was amazing for the quality. My daughter loves it. It is better than a "starter", but not too much for someone who may or may not continue playing.

          Mitchell MU70 Uke

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

I have had this Uke for over a week now and have had some time to spend with it. It is pretty well made for the price and sounds good. I gave a 4 star rating because the description is inaccurate. It doesn't have abalone rosette and purfling. It has abalone looking decals. Not the same thing.

I am not a ukulele player but have played guitar. This instrument is an amazing value with regards to tone and quality of build. I am having a great time learning how to play it.

Great, but not below the 10th Fret

          By Robert

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

After playing ukulele for a few months with the beginner $40 ukulele I decided to take it to the next level and get a decent ukulele. I saw this one in the store and loved its appearance and bought it. It worked great. It is also very durable. But when I began to learn songs that when higher on the neck above the 10th it was hard to hold chord due to the strings being so far from the fret board. If you are a beginner and want a ukulele to play simple songs near the top of the fret board then this is a good ukulele for you. IF you are a player that wants to really advance and learn difficult songs I would not by this uke. I personally suggest saving up a little longer and getting the Cordoba 20TM-CE for $199. It has a great sound both electrically and acoustically(this is also electric, not just acoustic like the Mitchell above) and holds chords and notes great below the 10th fret. It also has a skinnier neck so it is easier to hold chords. I personally thought the Mitchell had too fat of a neck. Its a great uke, but I would suggest the cordoba.

          A Beauty!

          By Susan

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

Recently our daughter said that sometimes she wished she was rich. When I asked what she would do if she were, one of the top three was that she'd buy a ukelele. :) With Christmas on the horizon and thinking this dream was within our reach, I did some quick research and found this highly rated and reasonable uke, and it did not disappoint. She was thrilled (made her cry!) and has loved playing it ever since she got it. It's a beautiful instrument- love the mother of pearl inlays and the shiny protective finish. It's one that will likely bring her years of satisfaction and pleasure at not much more than a starter model price. (Pre-Christmas deal was especially good.) Well worth it! Would do it again in a heartbeat~ (Guitar Center was also fabulous to work with! Our first one had a chip in the finish, but they quickly sent a new one on the way without any hassle. VERY impressive customer service on all levels. Highly recommend them, too!)

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

The MU70 Mitchell ukulele is an outstanding value. I had heard one played in the store and felt the sound quality was very good, so when the opportunity presented itself, I made my purchase. Mitchell produces good quality instruments from my experience. The MU70 is better than most beginner/intermediate instruments, and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another! The finish and attention to detail is superb.

Truly enjoyable intrument. Very handsome. Nice sound, too. Don't be discouraged because it doesn't have a prestigous brand name. It's worth every penny. You won't be disappointed.

          Great Starter Uke

          By Jeff Waldman

          from Egg Harbor Twp., NJ

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

Loving this uke. Been a guitarist for 30+ years and have been putting off buying a ukulele for that long. Saw a cheapo on sale at GC for $25 so I figured I'd take the plunge. Well, I got what I paid for, and if you breathed on it, it would go out of tune. Then I stepped up to the Mitchell. You'll be amazed at the craftsmanship, although I would suggest playing one before you buy..my first one had a bridge buzz that I couldnt shake, so I had to return it. Great little machine heads, good action, nice to look at. The frets could use some dressing, but all in all more than your money's worth at this price point. The only downside is the tone. While it isn't thin, it isn't deep and woody either. Pick up a good quality mahogany and you'll hear the difference. The laminate top accounts for the sound. All I can say, though, is that once you pick it up, it's kind of hard to put down. It's fun to play and to look at, and for under $100, you'll never say that you wished you picked up a different ukulele.
