I bought two of these little ukuleles for my daughters to learn on. The price was very reasonable, the sound is awesome and they are super easy to keep tuned using an app they have on their phones. They had already learned three or four chords the first evening and were looking up songs to play before they went to bed. Two weeks later they have learned numerous songs including Christmas carols to sing to the family on Christmas Eve. Such fun! And the ukuleles are so pretty! They were packaged very carefully and shipped quickly. I am happy with my purchase in every way possible!! I recommend this company highly!

When this first arrived in the mail, I was so excited. However, after I tuned it, I tried to play a G chord, and a C chord. However, when I played the G and C, it sounded very off. Then I tried other chords, and they sounded off as well. But, when I played the chord on the opposite strings that they were meant to be played on, it sounded pretty normal. This is why I think I was sent a left handed one, or just a "defected" one. However, even though I sort of figured out how to play the chords differently, it still bothers me, and the sound quality isnt as good as my other friends ukelele, which is the same as the one I have, except not defected. I also noticed a small dent in my ukelele, that might have something to do with the sound quality.

I love how this product keeps a tune for a few days. I mean, for the price, you would expect it to have to be tuned a lot but this product can hold a tune for a while.

Comments about Mitchell MU40 Soprano Ukulele:

I bought the MU40 as a gift for my 9 year old son. He is thoroughly enjoying his time with it. He's a beginner, and a small person, so this ukulele is just right for him. I didn't want to purchase something that seemed like a toy, and the MU40 is just right. Except for its size, it doesn't look like a toy, and it doesn't play like a toy.

Here's how things happened: I've decided that I am going to purchase, learn to play, and perform with a mid-priced ukulele, and I started reading, researching, and becoming familiar with all things ukulele, including the history of the instrument. Guitar Center in my city seemed like it would have the best collection of several brands, so I went there to do further research by having some up-close-and-personal time with lots of sizes and brands. I play some guitar, so I'm not unfamiliar with stringed instruments. I played many brands: Fenders, Mitchells, Lanakais, Cordobas...by the way...LOVE the Cordoba I played. The one instrument that really struck me about how sweet it sounded was this MU40. I looked at the price tag and was STUNNED. I made notes about ALL the ukuleles I encountered that day and then realized an MU40 would be a wonderful way to get my kids interested in ukulele, and at a price that doesn't worry me much about whether or not they will stick with it, so about 2 weeks later, I went online and bought an MU40 as a birthday gift. Done deal. We love it. I'm still saving up for that wonderful Cordoba, but in the meantime, I'm teaching my little uke player about what I know already. He's got 5 chords down pretty well and can get through a tune or two.

I recommend this instrument for beginners. Naturally, if you are a pro or highly experienced player, this probably isn't for you...you'll notice variations in intonation up and down the fretboard, but seriously, it's not bad. You might have to tune a little more often than you'd like, but again, if you're seasoned, you probably wouldn't purchase an MU40.

I recently bought this for my 14 year old daughter who wanted to learn ukulele but I didn't want to go all out until I knew she liked it, and overall it is beautiful has an amazing sound quality easy to play and I love it. But it doesn't stay in tune for a while and sometimes the string pops out but it just pops back in without a process but it's slightly annoting at times

Comments about Mitchell MU40 Soprano Ukulele:

I am a beginner on the Uke and I find it a little hard with my big fingers on this small instrument. I have played the guitar in the past and have some knowledge about strumming etc. The instrument is fine for a beginner. It sounds good and yes I do have to tune it up frequently and to make it easy I have a ninja tuner on it. Overall for the price it is a good instrument to learn with.
