This is after purchasing the MU-70 first, exchanged that to the MU-100, a total disappointment. On both models, the saddle sinks into the bridge on the #1 string after tuning the instrument. Maybe it is designed that way but other ukes I have checked out does not do that. The biggest flaw is the metal on the fret board, the first 5 fret steel are not filed down to smoothness, they are sharp. Sharp enough that it catches the finger flesh when playing. This is true on both models. The upside, both models have good resonance.

Feels Great

By Richard

from Dallas, Tx

Comments about Mitchell MU100 Koa Concert Ukulele:

I go a lot by how an instrument feels when you hold it. I was finding a lot of unbalanced, neck-heavy ukes and I hated it. This is so solid and great. Perfectly balanced. The inlays around the sides of the instrument are beautiful. The volume is a *little* more muted than my other ukes. But it does not affect tone quality. Its a good size. The frets stay in tune up the neck. This is right at the sweet spot.

Great first ukelele that you shouldn't outgrow anytime soon.

By Lee Troncalli

from Dallas, Texas

Comments about Mitchell MU100 Koa Concert Ukulele:

Beautiful little instrument. I'm a bassist who recently took up the ukelele to expand my horizons into the treble world and couldn't be happier with my choice. The koa wood gives it a bright sound and the instrument has no issues staying in tune. Not to mention how beautiful it is with its abalone trim and deep-grained glossy surface. A quality instrument for the price that should provide years of quality entertainment. Immanently portable too! toss it in a little Road Runner gig bag and it goes anywhere with you. Pull it out for an impromptu busking session and you could make lunch money.

great value

Comments about Mitchell MU100 Koa Concert Ukulele:

I asked to look at all of them they had in stock. (3) The last one had the straightest neck. These are awesome for the price! Be sure to give the strings plenty of time to stretch! Like another said, some very minor finish flaws, but overall a beautiful instrument, well made and sounds great! Had it a week and no regrets so far. Good quality strings, but again they need time to stay in tune. It has a high quality feel and playability to it. I love my uke!

Wonderful but a little soft

By Logan Self

from Edmond, Oklahoma

Comments about Mitchell MU100 Koa Concert Ukulele:

I have had this uke for nearly a year now and I am thrilled with it! It is beautiful with the laminate koa wood, it sounds great, and it is comfortable to play. The frets are not too small so it is easier to play chords that are not bar chords. The tuning at first is incredibly loose but after a few weeks of playing it tightens up pretty well. My only complaint is that the sound is not as loud and doesn't resonate as well as I would like. But for the value of this instrument you definitely get your bang for your buck!

love this uke

By Nick

from Arlington, WA

Comments about Mitchell MU100 Koa Concert Ukulele:

I have had this uke for 6 months i love it. I love the sound even though the uke is not very loud. The koa wood looks so much better than it does in the picture. It is beautiful! When i found this on here i was like wow what a deal but when i had it it was better than i thought it would be. It is an easy to learn instrument i think this uke is a good for your first uke it is really solid. It can take a beating. When i first got it, it wouldn't stay in tune because of course you need to break the strings in.( get the aquila strings they sound nice with this uke if you can find them) You don't have to tune this uke very often because the tuning pegs are really nice they keep it in tune very nicely i hardly ever have to tune it at all. If you want a deal pick this uke you will not regret it.

Great Gift!

By Steve

Comments about Mitchell MU100 Koa Concert Ukulele:

I gave this Uke to my daughter for Christmas. Her first reaction to seeing it come out of the box... Tears of joy!! It is such a beautiful instrument and sounds like a Hawaiian dream. She is an accomplished guitar player but doesn't travel with it due to the size and cost of baggage these days. This is the perfect size for carry-on.

Nice tone, minor finish flaws; great value overall

By Eric

from Federal Way, WA

Comments about Mitchell MU100 Koa Concert Ukulele:

Overall, I am very impressed with this ukulele. Its warm tone and finish are very pleasant, although it wasn't quite as loud as some of the other concert ukuleles that Guitar Center had on display. Its tone bested all of the pricier ukuleles that I tested (from Cordoba and Lanikai). Impressive! My only two complaints are that they sealed couple small blemishes into the finish, and they got a little sloppy with the glue on the fretboard. Overall, this ukulele was an excellent combination of appearance, tone and value!!

Comfortable:)

By Tiffany

from San Francisco, CA

Comments about Mitchell MU100 Koa Concert Ukulele:

I went to Guitar Center the other day and I wanted to check out some ukes hopin there'd be a Fender one but I tried out this one and it played REALLY well! The neck was really comfortable and the frets weren't too small. It was really easy to chagne chords and the sound of the black nylon strings was amazing. It was really warm and bright. I very much suggest this ukulele to any ukulele player.
