This guitar was purchased as a gift for an intermediate player.I checked out everything in the store's inventory for appearance, construction, string action height, neck straightness, fret edge finishing(a big problem on some others in this price range)body and neck binding match-the whole thing but most importantly,TONE. The intended recipient wanted a slightly smaller body than some of the dreadnoughts on the market so I was skeptical of this guitar's just slightly smaller dimensions(than, say,a larger dreadnought although it's classed as one) to produce good low end response. I was surprised to hear good clean lows and a good range with no unwanted buzz. The action is low and fast, the fretboard well done.I have been checking and fixing instruments for many years now and play out as well.I have several guitars including a hand picked Taylor 514c(cedar top grand auditorium)No,the Mitchell does not have the resonance or the projection of the Taylor-it's not in that class-but I would not hesitate to play a gig with it.I would definitely equalize it with the PA to maximize the guitar's potential and just leave the on board at neutral. To summarize, this guitar was extremely playable, had great tone and sounded better than many others at this price.I may go back and get one for a back-up road unit.Only negative is that the written material seemed to be done by someone who should be more familiar with the english language. HINT:If you have smaller children, get a hard case for your guitar.

I brought this guitar and in a couple of weeks of ownership the strings began to horribly buzz. I took it back to the dealership and he told me that the wood on the neck had warped. This was only after 3 weeks of use. I treated this guitar with kid gloves and it still began to degrade. I opted for a Takamine G series guitar and I am a happy man.

Comments about Mitchell MD100SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is, without a doubt, one of the best bang for your buck guitars. It has a consistent smooth tone, never requires much tuning, and looks great!

I've owned this for around 6 years, and it has never let me down the entire time that I've owned it. My friends (Which include some professional musicians) never believe me when I tell them how cheap this guitar is; Some of them even agree that this plays better than their $2000+ martins/Taylors!
I can't comment on the stock electronics, however, because when I bought my guitar used someone had already replaced them, but judging from other reviews I think that the electronics aren't very good stock. If you replace them, however, this guitar will be one of the best investments that you have ever made.

Comments about Mitchell MD100SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Alright, so I got this guitar about two years ago during a spring/Easter sale, brand new out of the box. The first thing I noticed was the poorly placed battery compartment. While that isn't a deal breaker it will certainly get on your nerves. Then there's the lack of a strap button, once again not a deal breaker. I have had tuning problems, but that's my fault for putting 9s on an acoustic. Now on to the sound, for the most part it has a nice warm tone to it with a decent top end (when using medium to light gauge acoustic strings). That however is poorly translated when plugging it in, it then makes the transformation into a tin pan with strings. To put it bluntly, the electronics in this guitar are unusable, tinny and weak. After about a year and a half of playing they decided to die on me. I know this isn't an isolated incident because the electronics in my one friend's guitar (same exact model) went up in smoke, quite literally. If you're going to use it as just an acoustic instrument you'll be very satisfied. Electric on the other hand, I would recommend putting a single coil pick up in the neck position for it to sound any good. But enough rambling, the product is pretty good for the money, though you'll notice how cheap it really is when plugging it in. Would I recommend it? To a beginner, yes, gigging musician, no unless you're willing to put in the time to modify it or are playing coffee shops where no amplifier is needed. Despite the criticisms I have for this guitar I do genuinely enjoy playing it, the neck profile is comfortable and the cut away is nice for accessing the higher register of the instrument. If you have a child that wants to play I would definitely recommend this as a first instrument. But with all of that aside, was it worth the money? Yes and for the price I got it at I really can't complain too much. Hope you found this review helpful, thanks for reading.

Comments about Mitchell MD100SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I read the reviews for this guitar over and over, trying to decide whether to purchase it. I can only say, I'm overjoyed that I did. The guitar I received was set up perfectly right out of the box, though I did change strings (personal preference). The guitar is beautiful in its and fit and finish, and the sapele back and sides have a stunning grain pattern. The frets on mine are smooth and nice, no complaints. While not as deep as much more expensive guitars, the tone is excellent. The Mitchell MD100SCE is a lot of guitar for the money. By the way, I have been playing for over 50 years.

      As Good as my Martin

      By Gregory

Comments about Mitchell MD100SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Ok so my title is a little off. Picked up a Martin and this Mitchell as well as 2 Les Paul's and a Fender Stratacaster. Tho it is bigger than the Martin it is lighter. New strings out of the box as I do with all guitar's And that is when I noticed the battery location. Let's just say this has got to be the poorest location you could pick. Ok besides the fact your going to restring it every time you need to replace battery. Also a note on using a strap. Not going to happen no place to mount at the neck. That my friend just makes me mad. Ok on with the test. $1,200.00 Martin $249.00 Mitchell. Play is very rich and clean no buzz or dead spots at all. Hook up to an amp and you see the difference right away. You will need to turn up amp volume 2 clicks. and you will get some hummmmm if you go to far. with the volume at max on he guitar the AT-3000 control's just suck. This is going to have to be replaced ASAP if your going Electric for the most playing. As an Acoustic it is top notch it looks great stay's in tune

Comments about Mitchell MD100SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I should have known better than to expect any real sound quality from this lower end guitar. As a prefessional classical guitar player considering switching to steel strings, this guitar was a turn-off the minute I lifted up the box it was delivered in. This guitar is so light, I thought maybe I had ordered a child's guitar by accident. It sounded terrible and I couldn't even play it for 15 minutes before I decided to ship it back.

      Excellent

      By Chris Anselmo

Comments about Mitchell MD100SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar as a Christmas gift 3 years ago. I always thought it was a nice guitar but never 'fell in love' with it. However, i have always been bad about keeping up with changing the strings, so i recently enrolled in the GC String Club. I was reading up on strings and heard so many pros about Elixir strings. Most people though, said they loved the strings on top of the line guitars (Taylor, Martins..I think any strings will sound good on expensive guitars) so i put them to the test and put a set on my Mitchell MD100. Ever since then i have 'Fallen in love' with this guitar. I feel a little guilty that I play this one much more than a $400 dollar fender that I just bought a few months ago. Anyway, great price, still in excellent shape after 3 years, and it looks/sounds great!

Comments about Mitchell MD100SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar isn't plain in anyway. It offers three rings around the soundhole. One looks to be the abalone shell. It really gives it a rich look. There are also some checkering details across the back and bottom of the body. The face of the headstock is glossy black which looks classy with the silver tuner knobs. The details and the quality are all there. The full rich sound is something you would find on a much more expensive guitar. I say don't hesitate and buy it now before the price goes up.
I looked around for awhile for a good value between cost and performance and decided on the Mitchell acoustic-electric. I am only a beginner but have spent a lot of time playing this guitar and have improved substantially in a short period of time. The neck is just the right size for my hands and the strings are easy to push down on the frets. The tone is rich and full like that of a much more expensive guitar. The added benefit of playing through an amplifier makes it great for parties and family gatherings. Everybody thinks it sounds awesome. The workmanship is topnotch too. It really is a nice looking and playing guitar. I would recommend it to anyone.
      well built, good design
      cost versus performance is perfect

      PURE JUNK

      By stevierayguru

Comments about Mitchell MD100SCE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Played this guitar several hours, the constant buzz of the pick-up is a hinderance, not to mention the overall lacking quality of work put in them is very "poor". Using 12, 54 strings and the neck began warping soon after. It's apparent the neck suffers in strength to carry a heavier string. No care what so ever went into producing these. This is a cheesy guitar. Reccomend you spend a few extra dolloars for a more quality playing experience and lack of problems.
