This was a decent sounding guitar at first. For the price, it seemed unbeatable. The problems started after about 2 years... The neck starts curving a bit- beyond what the truss rod can adjust for. What you end up getting is uncorrectable buzz, especially on the E strings. After this happens, all you have is a really big paperweight. Save up the money and buy the Epiphone. Unless you only need this for about 2 years.

I've played for 30+ years and have played alot of guitars. I could not believe the quality of this guitar. It's a spruce top not a laminate and will sound even better over the years. Try it! Buy it!

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I went in looking for a 12 string in my price range, and didn't think I'd get much for my money. The quality, sound and playability of this model is surprisingly good. I think it will sound even better in 20 years.

great 12 string ...great value

By Guitar Man

from Vernon Hills, Illinois

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I'm still in the learning stages of guitar playing. I have a Takamine 6 string acoustic that plays beautifully...but the Mitchell 12 string is fantastic. Looks great and sounds fantastic. For the price...it's a great deal. I highly recommend this guitar. I'm 47 and so glad I opened my world to guitar playing.

Bang For Your Buck!

By Kevin

from Georgia

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

It's a really nice guitar, just to start it off. The spacing makes it easy to play and it sounds like a much more expensive guitar. However, when I got it, the action was EXTREMELY low and it needed to be set up desperately. Other than that, this guitar is great for the money, and very affordable.

Amazing guitar, amazing price!

By Joel

from Middlesboro, Kentucky

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I normally play a classical guitar, but I thought I should get a guitar for chords, and if I needed to play for large crowds. I tried out tons of guitars and this was my favorite for something under $800+. It has a vibrant tone, it has great action and is a real bargain. You won't be disappointed with this guitar.

Great guitar!

By Boze

from Garland, TX

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I am only a beginner, and had purchased a value pak a few months ago. The sound was awful, and my fingers hurt too much just trying to learn on a cheapie. I really wanted a 12-string, and tried this out in the store. Bought it then and there. My church teaches guitar, and I practice 1-2 hours a night now, without the pain, and with a warmer, richer sound from the guitar. I love it!

Best Guitar In Its Price Range

By Karma Guitarma

from Louisville, Colorado

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I went into guitar center looking for a starter acoustic guitar. After trying at least 10 6-strings in the $200 range I picked up this 12 string. It was love at first sight. The action is perfect, sound is well beyond what I expected. No buzzing whatsoever. If you're looking for an acoustic in this price range, don't even bother with 6-strings, go for this

By MitchMike12

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

Well i went to my nearest guitar center expecting to buy the Epiphone DJ212 12 string acoustic. So i talked to one of the salesmen and we walked back to the acoustics section and they didn't have it but they did have the mitchell MD100S12 soooo i played that and really really liked it. i've had it one day and i'm in love!!! the only negative thing that i could say about it is my thirteenth fret is off just barely but other than that the guitar has a great sound

For What It Is.....

By The Chetster

from Tulsa Ok

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

This is an intermediate level guitar. I bought the electric acoustic version and am AMAZED at the quality and value. The overtones are so bright! It is a loud, beautifully toned guitar. I played 2 of them and they were boh very easy to play, the actiions on both were close enough to perfect that I have no plans on tweaking it at all. I am also impressed with the fact that this guitar, strung with the D'addarios that came with it, refuses to be played out of tune, fir the most part. Unbeleivable value.

Very, very good!!!!

By Neil Kraft

from NW Ohio

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

The action on this guitar and playability remind me of a more expensive guitar. I had to double check the price after playing it. For $200 this guitar is a bargain. The string spacing is right, alot of expensive 12 strings have bad string spacing, but not this one. The tuners are high quality, and all the internal bracing and kerfing look to be authentic. The neck is thin and not too wide, it just plays very, very nice. This is an import guitar but I forget that when I'm playing it. I would never sell my Taylor but it looks like the imports are gaining in the race.

Great 12 string for low price!!

By Karen Denney

from Kansas City, MO

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

This is a quality built guitar with a solid spruce top and a wonderful full rich tone for a low price. I started four years ago on 6 string guitar and I was looking for a 12 string acoustic to add to my collection. This is easy to chord and do fingerstyle on because of the low string set-up. Tone is beautiful and no buzz anywhere on the fret board-buy it! I promise you will be happy with it.

Excellent Value

By The Basstard

from Tampa, FL

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I've been looking around for a twelve string for a little while now, and I've tried every one I could get my hands on. Let me say up front, there is no other guitar anywhere near this price range that has the quality of this instrument. The fit and finish is beautiful - well beyond what you would expect. The tone is just what I was looking for, mellow and well-defined without being overly bright, with great sustain and separation. I haven't needed to make any adjustments whatsoever. The mahogany is gorgeous - it glows like a jar of honey under the light, and it has a spruce top(!)-the sound will only get better with age. Everyone who has seen/heard/played this guitar can't believe what I paid for it, and honestly, neither can I. This is a killer deal. Know what else? I almost don't care if I break it - I can buy two or three more for what I was originally planning to spend, although it's way too pretty to abuse. You should try this one out before you spend a whole lot more than you need to. If you can afford a Martin or a Taylor, by all means buy one, but for the rest of us, this is where it's at.

THE BEST 12 STRING VALUE THERE IS!

By Mstng65flcnman

from Ventura California

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

I went to GUITAR CENTER in Oxnard to look for an effects pedal with a nice 12 string acoustic sound. The sales dude Lyle was too busy tuning a guitar to help me get the 411 so I made my way to the acoustic guitars. I saw a guy playing a very nice sounding 12 string by Mitchell and it sounded GREAT! He let me play it and told me he has been playing the one he bought for about a year and loves it. The action is easy and the quality is high. This guitar is comparible sounding to the Martin and Taylor and is hundreds less. Intonation and harmonics are dead on. The weakness is the tuners which drift after about 30 minutes of playing. Great guitar for a little money! 5 stars!

Primary Guitar

By Scott Olin

from Modesto, CA

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar has become my primary instrument over the last year. My other guitars are starting to get dusty from lack of use. The tone is great and the full, rich sound is great for the rhythm styles I use. Really a great bargain--it sounds like a much more expensive guitar. A bit head heavy, but most 12's are. The only thing I wish it had was an on board tuner. That is a lot of strings to tune, and a good onboard tuner would make the job a lot easier.

PLEASANT SUPRISE

By Big Dave

from Prairieville, LA

Comments about Mitchell MD100S12 Dreadnought 12-String Acoustic Guitar:

My wife got me a gift card to GC for Father's Day worth $300. I'd been itching to get a 12-string acoustic, so I got this guitar, warranty, gig bag, and extra strings all for under the amount of the card. Let me tell you, I've barely put it down since. Looks great, sounds great, plays great, and stays in tune. Not too much more you can ask from a guitar. I was amazed at the quality of such a low cost instrument. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, beginner or professional on a budget. This thing ROCKS.
