I tried a couple of these in the Guitar Center and for the price they are amazing value. I have played the guitar over 30 years on and off, everything from cheap acoustics to custom Gibsons. If you need a great beginner instrument or just a cheaper guitar to drag to the beach, cabin or wherever, this is the one.... and you will still have great sound and playability. As with all acoustics, probably better to 'try' before 'buy' due to variations between each unit produced (this advice goes for high dollar guitars too), but it seems that Mitchell have pretty good quality control.

I brought my guitar in to see if it could be repaired( bowing neck) I twould have cost more to repair than it was worth. I looked around the center and checked out everything in my price range 150- 250, I really liked the action I was so suprised the neck felt great and the sound was pretty good too. I played it that night and found that the low e buzzed or rattled around the 8th fret. I returned it and the replacement is perfect . Overall a good guitar for a great price.

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I got this guitar for my 12th birthday and i have loved it ever since. It was my first acoustic and so far, I am completely impressed with it. My brother has a Fender acoustic and he never plays it because he plays mine so much. Its a great guitar and i recomend that if you are looking for an acoustic guitar, this one is it.

Great bang for the buck!

By Frank

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I've always played electrics and recently got the itch for an acoustic. I went into my local store and checked out several guitars and was shocked when this low priced beauty blew the others in my price range out of the water. I was looking to spend around $500, but this guitar was hands down the best to me. The overall quality is solid, the finish and wood are really stunning. Surprisingly the action was a lot lower than most of the other guitars I checked out and there is absoulutely zero fret buzz anywhere on the neck. The neck relief was even spot on. I did not see any need to have this guitar set up, it was good to go as is. I did change the strings to some Ernie Ball Earthwoods, but that is primarily out of habit of always putting fresh strings on any guitar I buy. I am still shocked that these have a solid top, great tone, and play so well for the price tag. What a sweet guitar at a great price!

Alright, I got this last year for Christmas and it is still as amazing as ever. It has a great, big sound and is loud enough for playing in a band or such. It has a nice smooth neck perfect for people with smaller hands. Great guitar.

Outstanding guitar for the price

By CW Wong

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I am currently deployed in Afghanistan and own a few Martins, Taylors and Breedloves. I wanted to continue playing so I decided to try this brand out. Great guitar for the price. The craftmanship is great and the tone is comparable to my Martins. I expect the top to open up nicely as it ages Highly recommended.

A Great Guitar for a Budget or a Beginner

By Michael Simmons

from Albrightsville, Pennsylvania

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

The Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought is a great guitar for a beginner,a hobbyist, or someone looking for a cheap, kick-around instrument with a great tone. I'm primarily an electric player, but I found no problem playing this guitar within a few hours. For the price, you get a lot of great tone and volume, and looks to boot.

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I just bought this guitar, and I absolutely love it! It's sound is beautiful and rich. The price was incredibly low for such a great instrument. Although the action may be a bit high for some people, it's a blast to play. I highly recommend it to anyone who is starting out or just wants a great but cheap acoustic.

STOP! You MUST buy this guitar!

By Max

from Florida

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This guitar is perfect for anyone. It sounds better than any epiphone or squier at the same price and can even compete with the more expensive martins and such (with a good set of strings). This was my first guitar and I couldn't be happier. But if you're a well advanced player just looking for a banger, this is great too. Overall awesome sound without taking a huge bite out of your wallet. This is the acoustic guitar you always dreamed of.

Quality Instrument....

By Lana

from Arlington, VA

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This is a quality instrument, never mind "for the money." Like most guitar brands, you need to check several out before selecting the one that's right for you. I own several high-end Gibsons, Martins, Taylors, Takamines and was looking for a starter acoustic guitar for a friend when I came across the Mitchell. I was very impressed with the sound and quality of the build. The wood grain was gorgeous, the neck felt good, the action needed only a little tweak and the thing stays in tune once you stretch the strings out. It is not a high end guitar, but no player or beginning player should be embarrassed for having one of these. It is capable of making sounds that you can be proud of. I'll probably pick one up for myself and proudly display it next to my other much pricier guitars. Take good care of it (proper humidity, etc.) and it will last you for years to come.

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Go out and get one of these as soon as possible! The quality and sound of this guitar will blow your mind! The action is outstanding,as good or BETTER than any I've played at any price! When I first bought it it was so beautiful I was afraid to touch it! When I did, it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! I'm a guitar shredder, but this guitar has me playing everything from John Denver to old Beatles! You can't afford not to own this guitar!

Really Worth It

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I'm a rank beginner, but after quite a bit of shopping, listening and playing a lot of guitars in the $100-350 range, this is my favorite. It sounds and plays better than the more expensive Yamahas that many consider the standard for beginner guitars. I even liked it better than a Seagull that cost twice as much. The only thing that felt played and sounded significantly better was a Martin that cost 7x as much. The action is great, and the finish is perfect. I've looked all over and don't see one blemish. This really is a great guitar for the money. I think you can find worse guitars for a whole lot more money.

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I bought my Mitchell MD100s at Guitar Center in Greensboro, N.C., after debate on a new guitar, and staying in budget, the salesperson showed me this fine piece. I played it and was really impressed. A friend of mine in West Virginia, where I now reside, introduced me to his cousin who is a luthier, and he put the final touches on it. I have played expensive guitars, great guitars, and very overpriced and overrated guitars, and played several that have left a lot to be desired, but my Mitchell is great, and with the solid spruce top, the sound gets better with age. I have had mine going on 7 years and it still sounds and plays great. For those with questions about this guitar, go for it. You will not be disappointed.

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Been playing 26 years and during that time have owned guits costing $200 - $2,000. This guit is an exceptional value. Solid top, rosewood fretboard, real binding, excellent closed tuners, great sound and looks, good intonation and playability. Overall construction appears to be excellent. Bought this for a beginner and thought I might keep it for myself! Wish I had had a guit this nice when I was starting.

    Great beginner guitar.

    By Douglas

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I had been shopping around for a while when I found this guitar. It had all the features and sound quality I wanted for the price. So far so good, although the action seems a little heavy compared to some of the other guitars I've seen since I bought this one. All in all it seems to be a great beginner guitar.

    Great Price.....Great Guitar

    By AJ

    from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Mitchell MD100S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I am a beginner and own a Hohner student guitar. I am not into reading music, but I can follow tabs pretty good and I know chords. I was in search of a full size acoustic guitar and researched for months, (read reviews, played guitars at the store, talked with guitar players) and came upon this one. Most people I spoke with loved the guitar because it was a a solid top, sounded great and the price was even better. I am not a lifetime musician; however, I am a trained singer and have an ear for music. I played most of the guitars at my local store and found no sound difference between guitars that cost more and this one. Furthermore, the fit and finish of this guitar is excellent. My wife thought I paid three times as much for it. She wasn't convinced until I showed her the receipt. This guitar in my opinion out plays the yamahas in it's price range, even rivals some of the Seaguils I played. The quality of this instrument is really good and the price is the best part. This is a quality guitar. I ran into a guy at a pawnshop who does gigs around the city and he has the acoustic-electric version of this guitar. He has been playing for over 10 years and can't stop talking about how good these guitars sound. I recommend anyone who is looking for a guitar to buy for quality, sound and value. Owning a Martin would be great, but owner a Mitchell is pretty darn cool too.
