This guitar has got all others beat for the price. It feels, plays, and handles like a pro guitar. I purchased one long ago and it got stolen...i got a new acoustic that was not the same guitar and ended up selling it and buying this again because it did not compare. The setup is probably the only downside. To get the action just right i shaved off the saddle by about a centimeter and tightened the truss rod. It comes with no tension so you need to adjust a little. Once i set it all up, it plays great with low action!

I just received this guitar in the mail and it came with a scratch and hole in the scratch guard!

I bought this guitar mainly because of already having a higher end Mitchell which I LOVE! Granted this guitart was about three hundred less than the higher end model, but I still expected more from Mitchell.
I tuned it up and tried it out. The strings buzz on high frets and when doing most power chords.

I have yet to plug it in to see how it sounds, but don't even want to waste my time. I will be sending this back regardless, and proceed to find a better fit for me.

Comments about Mitchell MD100CE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought the MD-100CE recently because I needed a cutaway for leads and my Yamaha was killing my hands and didn't bend notes well. I tried Martins and Taylors, all great with gorgeous resonance and tone, but they hurt, and this was dirt cheap and -- while not a Martin or Gibson of couse -- sounded terrific. It was noticably better than its more expensive counterpart, the MD100SCE. I've been playing for 35 years, and I play or practice daily and perform regularly in small venues and at clubs and frequently lose feeling in my hands, so I need something that's easy to play and this fits the bill. It gets good and loud on those acoustic Zeppelin numbers and the high strings stand out in open chords. I can bend notes with ease way up on the neck. Bandmates commented on the low action. Long story short, this is a great deal on a cheap guitar. If you're a newbie or not, try one out, but play before you buy. Looks lie a few folks got a bad one, judging by the reviews. Mine is great. Just played it. Love it.
        We'll see about tomorrow.

        DO NOT BUY THIS GUITAR

        By Michael

        from NY

Comments about Mitchell MD100CE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've had some issues with this guitar. It was a guitar that sounded good for the first time I had it. I bought it on Black Friday. The first thing I noticed AFTER I bought it was that the frets felt absurd. They felt less like steel and more of some coarser metal. The strings would scratch at any attempt of bend, and wouldn't grip at all at anything higher than the 12th fret. The electronics sounded too bright and thin. At first it was easy to play, but the last week I had it, the action became really high, so I adjusted the truss rod, and it seems that one side of the truss rod was adjusting more than the other. The treble side was buzzing horribly after adjusting. Finally, the strings kept slipping from the bridge. After dealing with all of this, I took the guitar to my locally owned shop to repair. The man replaced the bridge and adjusted the truss rod, and said the guitar was not worth it to repair fully, and suggested I get a new guitar. That is exactly what I did. Do not buy this guitar, or anything with a brand that is not dependable. If you can, please shop locally.

Comments about Mitchell MD100CE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought my Mitchell MD100CE probably 13 years ago. I didn't know much about acoustic guitars, but man did I get lucky. This guitar stood up to pretty steady playing throughout the years, and the sound on it is gorgeous for this price range. My pickup finally went on it last month, but I certainly got my money's worth. I will keep this guitar and use it acoustically since it still sounds great. I'd highly recommend this as an awesome entry level acoustic-electric.

Plays Better than a 61 Silvertone

          By William Ehrlich

          from Anderson, IN

Comments about Mitchell MD100CE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was going to buy a 1961 Silvertone Dreadnaught for $288.00. When I received the guitar case I bought from guitar center for $49.00, I decided to buy The Mitchell Acoustic Electric Guitar for $199.99. The Mitchell Guitar played better than the antique Silvertone. The Silvertone was manufactured in The USA. Craftsman In China. Who Cares...

Comments about Mitchell MD100CE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This Mitchell guitar is surprisingly well made for this price range. Solid body helps with wonderful tonality. The action is good on it. I haven't played it much through an amp. It has a battery inside that had been jarred out of its holder upon delivery. I had to loosen the strings to get to it. Not a huge deal. The guitar arrived damaged apparently from shipping. The very end of the guitar had a dent where the laminant meets the wood. MF is replacing it but my son was disappointed to have to send it back. I think simply wrapping the tuning end with bubble wrap may have helped. It appeared to be packaged well, inside of two boxes, but this is more testament to UPS being rough with it than MF neglecting the packaging. The guitar is beautiful and is an unbelievable value.

            Poor battery placement

            from Albert, Kansas

Comments about Mitchell MD100CE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This really is a fairly decent guitar but, whoever designed where the battery is placed is either not a musician or an idiot. I've seen cheaper guitars that have better design than this. Actually 4 stars is being kind, if the guitar was more inferior quality I'd have rated it way lower.
