Very Nice Guitar, so far

Comments about Mitchell Element Series ME2CEC Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I picked up this guitar yesterday, and loved the sound right off--nice and loud, bassy, yet nice mid and high tones too. Compared it to a nice Yamaha and others, and thought the low, warm tones, and volume were superior. Even comes with a two piece Indian Rosewood back, and Rosewood sides(my old Martin D-35 has a 3 pc. Rosewood back, apparently due to a wood shortage at the time of its manufacture). Not a real smooth finish, or varnish/polyurethane finish on the Rosewood, but that shouldn't affect the sound at all. Once again, so far VERY happy with this baby, playing it soft, or loud. Definitely give it a play.

Comments about Mitchell Element Series ME2CEC Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Bought this for my 15 year old daughter. She had started learning on my old Seagull S6 and was progressing well enough that I figured it was time she had a guitar of her own. We tried many different guitars in the store including Martin, Taylor, Breedlove, Washburn, Yamaha, etc. I was willing to spend a little more than this to get a better known guitar brand, especially if was one that "spoke" to us. Mitchell was hands down the best guitar we tried in this price range. As soon as I put this guitar in her hands she said, "This is the one!"

The maple binding adds a unique but classy look to the instrument. Solid feeling guitar that seems well put together. Not super loud but it does seem to project well. Offers a warm yet clear tone that Is similar to my S6. Neck and frets feel fine and the action was surprisingly good. Built in tuner is nice bonus. I know it's standard on most A/E guitars these days but glad she has it.

A few minor issues. I don't like the fact that it doesn't have a strap button at the top. We ended up buying a strap adaptor that attaches to the neck/headstock. Also, I'm not thrilled with the pivoting battery cover design. We'll see if it holds up. The tuners don't appeal to my eye but seem to work ok. I can see maybe upgrading those down the road but for now they do the job.

Overall, great guitar for the money. Don't be afraid of the name.

Great guitar, plays great after set up was performed. Love the satin finish. The guitar sounds equal too or greater higher end models. I compared this guitar to higher end Martins and Taylors and still prefer this one.

Comments about Mitchell Element Series ME2CEC Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Let me start by saying that I would never buy a guitar without playing it first. It's kind of a basic rule with me. However...

That being said, I took a chance and bought this guitar (online, sight unseen) right after Christmas (on sale) and I have to say it's pretty nice for this price range.

It sounds pretty good, projects well and has decent electronics (Fishman). The setup and action are not bad right out of the box. The over-all tone is nice and the playability is reasonably comfortable.

Here is why I give it Four stars. There's no top strap button. Minor, I know, but easy to remedy. The battery cover swings open a little too freely. Once again, minor. The Machine Heads are a little suspect. This is not to say that it goes out of tune egregiously, but it could be better and it may be worth upgrading.

The bottom line.... This is a solid guitar right out of the box, and if you are inclined to do so, spend another Forty or Fifty Dollars on some hardware and you wont be disappointed.

          Peace!

Comments about Mitchell Element Series ME2CEC Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Was after an acoustic with better playability than my 1990's Takamine. This guitar does just that...very smooth and easy to play. Feels a lot like an electric neck. It has more of a mid-range sound (I guess they call that "warm"...), with well balanced high and low registers. Playing acoustically I find I have to be more precise with my fret hand than with most other guitars, but that might be a good thing. Precisely placed chords will give beautiful ringing tones at times. Acoustic tone/sound is average, but played electrically no problem. The Fishman controls and tuner work fine, and allow some good tonal variety when tweaked. The guitar's finish is attractive, and the satin finish gives a very modern and lightweight feel when played. Cedar top and rosewood sides look good, and do seem to give a warmer tonal foundation (as advertised). A few issues on the finish: tuner keys are composite and look cheap; decorative piping (lines) around binding and on back center-line are a bit blurry (not crisp); one rough spot on binding where the neck block meets the back, but can't feel that when played. Oh well, "Made in China" is stated right on the box. Overall, this is a nice playing well-balanced acoustic for a mid-range price...very suitable for practice, informal use or students.

I play with a friend and do a two man band thing about twice a month and just for my own entertainment. It is a very good looking and a very easy playing guitar. It plays and sounds like a much more expensive guitar. I don't know why they didn't put a strap button at the top. Mike
