Excellent quality neck

Comments about Mighty Mite MM2910 Stratocaster Replacement Neck with Ebonol Fingerboard:

I bought a MM2910 last year, from a supplier that called it an ebony fingerboard. It looked like wood, not a composite and behaved like wood when I applied fingerboard oil to it. It wasn't jet-black so it hasn't been stained (nor will it stain your fingers)- just a dark charcoal color with a hard, smooth surface with wood grain. After a year, I like it so much I wanted to buy another, it is very durable. I'm building a gloss black Strat and it looks snappy with this neck. I like a fast playing surface and this is it. I saw GC offered the MM2910, but called it "ebonol" fingerboard. I ordered it anyway, and it's the same great neck I got before. The box from Mighty Mite says "ebony". Whatever it is, it sounds and plays great. Similar to a maple fingerboard, brighter than rosewood. Your Strat will quack just right. But don't expect it to be ready-to-play out of the box. I am an experienced parts-guitar builder (not a luthier) and have the skill and tools to perform fret leveling, end dressing, and lacquering these necks require to look and play right. You also have to drill the mounting holes in the heel. I've bought 4 other MM necks bought over the last 2 years and they've all been top of the mark.

Comments about Mighty Mite MM2910 Stratocaster Replacement Neck with Ebonol Fingerboard:

I bought one of these last year, it's worn well and I liked it so much I bought another this week. Looks great with a tuxedo black Strat. The tone the fingerboard provides is very similar to a maple fingerboard, it is a very hard and glossy type surface so you get a lot of quack, rich Strat sound, slightly unique from maple or rosewood. It's durable, no sign of string wear.

I do work in Dunlop 65 fingerboard oil on it, nothing else, and it does add depth to the color and smooths the finish a bit. It doesn't behave like a composite material. I finish the maple neck parts with spray can nitro lacquer in Vintage Amber, then clear coats, looks great.

It's funny, this neck is sold as "ebanol" and "ebony" depending on who you're buying it from. It sure looks like wood, I have genuine Ebony fingerboards and this compares nicely, it just isn't stained black like most are. Whatever it is, I like it. Doesn't come off black on your fingers. It's mounted on rock-hard maple neck, you'll know that when you drill the holes. Not sure what the other reviwer is talking about there.

The frets may require just a bit of basic leveling, if you don't have those skills this might not be for you. But if you know how to find a high fret and bring it down then you're good to go. The radius is 12", easy to get a sanding block from those other guys with the radius built in.

Comments about Mighty Mite MM2910 Stratocaster Replacement Neck with Ebonol Fingerboard:

I received this Mighty Might neck and fit it in my neck pocket. It fit nicely, except...While fitting it, I noticed the wood was easily dented. The wood seemed to be quite soft. I opted to return it.

        Best neck you can get

Comments about Mighty Mite MM2910 Stratocaster Replacement Neck with Ebonol Fingerboard:

I did not like the rose wood that came on my Strat. I was going with maple like on my Tele. I saw an ebony. It is fast and the tone is true. They put them on the best string stuff. I can see why.
