The Mighty Mite MM2905V Telecaster replacement neck is constructed of maple and has a maple fingerboard fitted with 22 medium frets. This guitar neck has a "V" shape for a true vintage feel and has been given an oil-based finish.
Since the 1970's Mighty Mite has manufactured custom and replacement guitar parts for luthiers, repairmen, and guitarists who can't wait to hot-rod their Fender Telecaster or similar style guitar.
I bought this Mighty Mite neck, along with a Fender Vintage Telecaster bridge plate and matching brass saddles (in itself a bargain at Guitar Center, if you order them separately), in order to complete a Tele-style guitar using a WD sunburst body that I've had for awhile. The WD body is really nice looking, but it's very shoddily routed and drilled, a pain to line up the parts, but that's another story in itself. This Mighty Mite neck is very well made, with nice even fretwork, no sharp fret-ends, smooth satin-y finish, well-cut nut, and nice grain throughout. I could have wished for a heftier chunk of maple, and I got a V-neck hoping for that, but it's basically a modern thin-profile with a "V" sort of added on - oh well! Most folks like a slim neck, and this will please those that do. The only caveats are: 1) It's 1 5/8" at the nut instead of the advertised 1 11/16" (fine with me), 2) The fingerboard radius is closer to 12" than 9.5", 3) The finish is definitely a satin Poly instead of an oil-based (also OK, and will be better for those who like to add deeper color layers), and 4) it is a 22-fret neck instead of 21, which makes it a pain to remove the pickguard to adjust a body-mounted neck pick-up, due to the fretboard overhang. Overall, though, a great neck for the money; couldn't do better for the money. Hooray for Mighty Mite, and Guitar Center!
Fast, Straight, and Beautiful could not ask for a better fit to my Mighty Mite Tele body. Worth every penny, did not seem to be a 9 1/2 radius but guitar will be fast player so whatever. One piece neck with pre drilled for schaller locking tuners. Thanks for sending me this gem. I had ordered the birdseye also not so lucky on that one. Mighty sweet neck Ayy.
The tuner holes are 11mm which is too large for any tuners I know of and even too large for the adapter bushings available, without resorting to epoxying them in and that's even sketchy. The other problem is that with tuners installed the high E string tuner's top edge is flush with the top edge of the headstock. In other words the headstock is too short. The Fender-Licensed designation of this neck seems meaningless with these kind of non-standard features. Would not recommend.
