The Mighty Mite MM2904 Telecaster replacement neck is constructed of maple with a rosewood fingerboard fitted with 22 medium frets. The guitar neck has been given an oil-based finish.
Since the 1970's Mighty Mite has manufactured custom and replacement guitar parts for luthiers, repairmen, and guitarists who can't wait to hot-rod their Fender Telecaster or similar style guitar.
Ordered this neck for a 1966 Candy Apple Red Tele Clone that I am building- had previously purchased a MM 2914 Birdseye Maple neck ( from another vendor) that I was well pleased with, it had a nice , chunky "C" profile, nice tall , wide frets ( "vintage jumbo", I think they are called...) - this neck was stated to have the same 1 11/16 nut width , and same frets- what I got was a scrawny, "import" neck with equally scrawny frets- wood quality and manufacture quality was good, but when the rosewood neck was put up "toe to toe" with the birdseye neck, there was at least 1/8" difference in neck width, not to mention the low , skinny frets- I was under the asumption that I was getting the same profile as the 2914, only with a rosewood board- It almost appeared as if they were built by 2 different companies !!!- Returned the neck, and Ordered another 2914 from an ebay supplier - guess I'll have to settle for a birdseye neck for my Tele Build- Mighty Mitte needs to make a "companion" rosewood neck to the 2914 birdseye neck, and do away with the thin profile, cheesy thin frets, and the 22 fret necks- stick with what made the tele ( and Esquire !!!) great and just build the 21 fret , vintage heel neck ( no "import" style fretboard overhang ) In closing, Buy the 2914, 21 fret neck, don't waste your time with the skinny 22 fret neck
I purchased this neck as a replacement for my Fender Telecaster. The craftsmanship on this neck is very nice. The frets are mounted well, and are smooth. The rosewood fretboard is attached beautifully, and the neck mounted to the body flawlessly. I give it four stars only because the rosewood on the neck that I received was a little darker than what I would have prefered, also the listed "nut" measurement was really 1-5/8" instead of the listed 1-11/16". However, I actually prefer 1-5/8" over 1-11/16". This is an excellent, excellent, excellent neck for the money. Especially when you could spend up to $350.00 for a similar neck elsewhere. I would highly reccommend this neck for any project, or replacement. I am completely satisfied with the product.
