Overview

Michael Kelly Guitar's Triad Port has a bold new look, but it is much more than just that. This offset soundhole placement was designed to create a larger resonate surface on the guitars' tops. The Michael Kelly craftsmen then tuned the bracing, side sound holes and top to optimize this design. The Triad Port features a solid spruce top paired with gorgeous flame okume sides and a 3-piece exotic wood back made of flamed okume and ovangkol. When you want to plug in, the Triad Port includes onboard Fishman's Sonitone active preamp system.

Acoustic guitar design has not changed significantly since the pre-World War II era. For several years now, the Michael Kelly team has been working on a fresh new approach to acoustic guitars. This has culminated with the development of the Triad Port.

Case sold separately.

Comments about Michael Kelly Triad Port Offset Soundhole Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar:

The odd sound-hole makes it look a little like the old Tacoma guitars, and it's rare enough to appear unique. If you're okay with the look, the guitar is really nice for the price. The frets are even and smooth, the neck is nicely tapered, the tuners do their job without any give or wiggle, the zero-pin bridge makes string changes a breeze, and the sound-hole port on the side makes it easy to hear onstage without a monitor.

For this price, I expected less. The Triad Port is easy to recommend to guitarists on a budget.

    Service and delivery comments:

I couldn't find one in any Guitar Center, so I ended up ordering directly from the manufacturer. They were nothing but supportive and easy to work with.

I also ordered the hardcase from the manufacturer, and it's a pretty nice one!
