Dragonfly

Comments about Michael Kelly Dragonfly 4-String Acoustic-Electric Bass:

A friend of mine owns this bass. I've been playing bass semi-professionally for about 18 years. This bass is beautiful to look at. Very nice quilted maple on the top back and sides and the fretboard inlay is truely a work of art. The playability of this bass was also very good. Where this bass falls short, is in tone and projection. For the size of the body, very little volume when played acoustically. It can't even keep up with a cheap plywood Harmony acoustic 6 string in volume w/o an amp. Plugged in, it can get much louder. Very loud before it starts to feedback, considering the thick body. But alas, the amplified tone is rather muddy and beyond my amp's (Hartke tranporter 4x10 cab and 3500 head) ability to eq the muddyness out.

Comments about Michael Kelly Dragonfly 4-String Acoustic-Electric Bass:

I've been playing bass for 8 years, and purchased this bass a year and a half ago before coming to college. I opted for this instead of bringing my solid body and amp up. I love this bass. It's so nice to just pick up and ply without the amp. But plugged in it sounds good too. I've yet to have any troubles with not being loud enough. Very resilient to weather changes also. I bring it back and forth between school and home (Michigan-Mississippi) and it alsways seems to be in tune. This bass definently looks way nicer than it costs. I play it almost every day, which in a small dorm room means i bang and knock it around everyday and it's yet to have a single scratch or ding. Awesome bass to have in your quiver.

AWESOME BASS

Comments about Michael Kelly Dragonfly 4-String Acoustic-Electric Bass:

Absolutely outstanding bass. Amazing quilt top. I'm glad i got the transparent black before they ran out of stock. incredible projection and tone to die for. The only way for this bass to get more amazing is to plug it in. thick warm tones that you can dial up to very bright and snappy. very very wide tonal range that you can get out of this bass. the inlay looks crazygood and i havent ever had any problems with this bass. A very VERY good buy for the price.
