Deep, growling fretless tone combined with elegant limited-edition looks.
From the intricate vine-style inlay carefully made from real pearl and abalone to the resonant body crafted from luxurious quilted maple, the limited-edition Dragonfly 5-String Fretless bass delivers a unique and elegant look. The all-maple body produces amazing attack and cut with great acoustic projection. The Fishman MKAB amplification system has a 3-band EQ optimized for acoustic bass and a bridge saddle pickup that provides great string-to-string balance. The unlined fretboard has side dots located where they would be on a standard fretted bass and additional small and unobtrusive dots on the top clearly marking the fret position. This is an incredible bass. I was looking for a fretless 5 string solid body but played up the 4 string fretless at my local guitar center. It played very easily, although I would like the action a little lower. I ordered the 5 string fretless in black. The finish is really cool in the transparent black. I had to get used to playing with a thicker body (my other basses are electric solid bodies) and the higher action. I swapped out the stock strings for rotosound flat wounds to both change the sound a bit and also protect the beautifully done dragonfly fretboard. One feature this bass has is marker dots for each fret directly under the B string as well as the regular markers along the side of the neck. At first the jury was out on the sound until I played it through a sound system and got feedback from the other musicians I play with. They were amazed. They said it was the best sounding bass I've played. I own a 4 string fretless Fender Jazz Bass Special and an Ibanez 5 string fretted with EMG select pick ups. I practice through a Trace Elliott 15" combo which doesn't do the bass justice so I'll have to tinker with a portable rig to gig with. But when I play direct through our house system, with sound techs, it sounds great, it fills the room and the B string is rich and full. For the price it is an impossible deal to pass up. I'm postponing my search for a fretless 5 string solid body for now. I'm very happy with the way this bass looks and sounds. Kudos to Michael Kelly!!

WOW!!!!
This is an amazing bass. And especially for the price. I have been looking for a fretless/acoustic, and this one wins. It looks nice and is much smaller than an upright (and less awkward at least to a 13 year old)and captures the best parts of one (at least I'm guessing it will with the right strings.)
After playing a few notes on this I knew i had to get, so far i only need 150 more dollars. Fingers crossed.

Baby where have you been all my life!!!!!
I already have a Tacoma CB10 acoustic... I had been playing a 77 Fender Jazz mostly until I bought an Ibanex SR505 from GC. I got used to the 5th string and now I am really digging it.. I went to GC the other day to get some new strings.. and a little voice said.. "Gooooo to the acoustic roooooomm.." So not being one to fight the force.. especially while in a music store I went... I walk in.. and I'm saying.."Well I have this Tacoma.. and it has just the greatest tone.. I really don't even want or need another acoustic.. " .. and that was my mindset going in there.. No thanks.. I'm just looking.. So I'm lookin.. lookin... I see all the usual suspects hanging on the wall .. and then "Ooo whats that?" I spotted this absolutely knockout drop dead gorgeous 5 string natural finish bass with this stunning inlay i=on the neck that just caught my eye.. I went over to it, and then I noticed it was fretless too. Then I played it. That was it. Then that reasoning process started.. "Well... you know I always wanted a fretless bass... and it is a 5 string... " I had to have it. It reminded me of an upright in it's sound. No ifs ands or buts. The thing didn't have the same rich deep tone of my other acoustic. It wasnt as loud either.. but it sounded clean.. it sounded crisp down low and up high.. chords or runs.. nothing a amp couldnt fix... and it felt good in my hands.. like it was mine already and it kept saying... "Ooooo yeah baby you want me you know you want me..." and I did. I really did. Whats not to like. Great sound, excellent playability, a sight to look at... and last but not least.. it was on sale.. I should be picking it up in @ 1 week. Unless a comet hits the Earth and life as we know it comes to a screeching halt. A really sweet sounding, playing, looking axe. If you are in the market for a good acoustic bass... go and check this one out. Bring money because you will want to take it home.

i need this...
when i played this bass i was absolutely set on getting it. i was looking for a 5 string acoustic bass, maybe fretless, and i came across this one and thought it would be like $2,000, so looks are definitely a plus for this instrument. i played the 4 string black and the 5 string natural, both fretless, and was well impressed with both. the sound was excellent, and personally i love the feel of it, but that depends on the individual musician. after that i went all around the state searhing for a black 5 string model, and have come close, but have given up. now i will have to order it online, which bugs me, but not too much not to do it anyways. in my opinion, its probably well worth the buy.

Amazing!!!
About 2 seconds into playing the Dragonfly Fretless, I knew that I had to get it. The action is perfect, the tones are great and it can really rock. The inlay is beautifully designed and a dragonfly sits at your sixth fret. This bass is my pride and joy!
