Greatest cab ever

By Jeffrey Craig _

from MI

About a year ago I decided I wanted a v30 cab simply because a few of my favorite guitarist use them. I tried two different cabs and they were both terrible to my ears. The sound was soft and airy no matter what I did. The highs were shreaking, the lows were flubby. Then I read around and heard that cab construction had a lot to do with how v30's sound and that mesa had the tightest, punchiest v30 cab in the world. So I ordered it and couldn't be more satisfied. I've played this cab with a x100b and a 6505 and it blew me away. Tight, super loud, articulate. I must say though that the mid spike is still there, it just sounds better and that mid spike is what makes the cab so loud. It makes a 100 watt head sound like two 100 watt heads. If you did away with the mid spike, you'd do away with all that powerful projection. Mesa had the right idea by just building the cab to make the v30's sound better instead of looking for less honky speakers. It does weigh considerably more than other 212's, but that extra size and weight is what makes the v30's sound so good.

The best cabinets in the world!!!!!

By Jim

from Bergen Ny

I just purchased one of these cabinets new and I have it for about 4 months and it is awsome! like in other reviews you have to let the speakers break in. the lows are nice and punchy and the high end has great richness to it. The cabinet has more of a scooped sound to it due to the vintage 30 speakers.Another thing i notice is the cabinet is sealed very well. When you take the back half off you can hear the push from the air escaping due to the tight seal.I run the cabinet through a dual rectifier head and it has a great response tho i also run a roland jc-120 amp for the clean sounds. basically what metallica uses. this product will last forever. I know because i also own a 4-12 and another 2-12 mesa cabinet and they have all gone through hell and back. I have never once had a problem with any of the speakers or anything not working. The only thing that sucks is it weighs over 60 pounds but its built road tuff. Like they say no pain no gain.

The perfect stage cabinet, great alternative to a 4x12!

By MC Kev Rock

from Springfield, IL

I play hard rock/metal and this thing screams with my Dual Rectifier. I also have a friend who uses this cab with a Lonestar and it sounds great as well. I know another guitar player who uses a Marshall DSL thru it and even another player who uses a Mesa 50 watt Single Rectifier thru it! This cab is very resonant but focused. It projects very well off axis so you don't have to worry about anything besides your sweet spot getting the best sound. I have played thru 4x12's for years and this gets enough balls without wasting the lows and tromping on your bass player's part playing field. SOund guys love it! The best way to go is get a rolling road case for it and set it on top for great projection, good stage monitoring and a great look! Then, at the end of the night it slips right into my car! I have yet to hear a head sound bad thru this cabinet!!

2x12 cab

By chancelor

from oregon city, OR

I had just purchased an egnater 4100 tour master and needed a lil something that could fit in my hatch back honda to go with it. The 2x12 mesa cab with vintage 30's was more than i asked for. Perfect size, extremely rugged and you can't beat the sound quality. I use a good amount of gain, delay and reverb and i like it loud and pumping. this cab stays ahead of me keeping great punch and attack and "incredible" sustain.
