The 1x12 Mesa Boogie Express 5:25 combo amp gives you true all-tube power in a big-sounding yet small amplifier. This 25W model features feature 4 inspiring modes from 2 opposite tonal personalities spread across 2 fully independent channels. If Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde had to share one platform, this would be it.
For the traditionalists, select the Clean and Blues for your 2 footswitchable sounds. Or, if you're addicted to Gain, choose Crunch and Burn. Then stand back as the well-mannered soul of Dr. Jeckyll morphs into the maniacal Mr. Hyde, hardcore beast. Most important is the classic authenticity of all these iconic tones. No matter what your stylistic destination, the Mesa Boogie Express will take you thereâfast.
Each channel on the Mesa Boogie amp is equipped with its own Contour depth control for added shaping that's both assignable and footswitchable. Used subtly, Contour adds a halo of depth and chime to gleaming clean sounds. Higher Contour settings, especially in Crunch and Burn, take you into Recto turfâtight, huge and menacing.
The Express 5:25's 2 incredible channels and 4 fully evolved modes give you a boarding pass to all the classic guitar styles. The pristine, blooming Clean and tight, grinding Crunch cover the rhythm territories in Channel 1 while Channel 2 roams the wide open spaces of soloing with howling Blues and soaring Burn modes.
Both channels feature assignable, footswitchable Contour controls that pack the sonic power of a multi-band EQ into 1 simple control. Blend this dynamic, bouncy circuit with the musically rich Tone controls for a sound far bigger than you've ever heard from a combo amp.
External Switch Jacks
Switch "tracks" remotely with the External Switch jacks where Channels, Reverb, and the Contour controls can be patched to an external master switching system for remote access. The transparent series Effects Loop handles the interface to all outboard processing.
Patented Duo-Class Power Switching lets you switch the Class (operating class) and Configuration (wiring style) in tandem, giving you two dialed power-voice ranges with the flick of a switch.

For years and years and I had searched for an amp that had a great clean tone and sweet, natural distortion. I wanted something that sounded like a real amp. I've owned a Randall Cyclone, Peavey Valve King and JCM2000 and none of them fit the bill. Enter the Express. With four incredible sounding modes, you can get essentially any sound you want. From Fender cleans to Mark IV type gain, the Express delivers. The gain is not brutal like a Rectifier, but that's the beauty of it. Who wants to sound like every other joe with a Mesa anyway? It's raw and tight with a tinge of mush. So beautiful. Legato runs, speed picking, harmonics, ooze out in spades. Do yourself a favor and try one out today.
The title says it all. I have not been playing for very long, a little over two years, and this is also my first tube amp... but the tone that comes out of this little beast is incredible. I honestly didn't really know what "smooth" meant until I plugged this amp in and played some G&R on my Les Paul. I highly recommend this amp for ANY playing style, from pristine cleans to roaring high gain (OK, maybe not Nu-metal). A warning though for some people is that this amp is LOUD. I was considering getting the 5:50 until I heard this 5:25 beast. I mainly play at home and occasionally with a friend or two and I can't concievably think of a situation I can come up with that I would put this past 5. However, I can personally attest that at very low volumes, this amp still sings! Buy this... you WILL NOT be disappointed.
This is absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, the best amp that I have ever, ever heard. There's something just so very special about the tone from this small box, with a 10" speaker. Even at bedroom levels you will fall in love with this thing! You'll be able to hear what your guitar actually sounds like. You can hear the every string, and every note is balanced against the next. I saw the blurb and thought, what? The amp is an instrument? Yeah right. Well YEAH..... They're right. It is quite simply something that I have never been able to appreciate before. The sound is there, all the time. This is harmonic harmony! It is also incredibly well made, the only minor issue I have found is the 5-Pin DIN socket. As I've already said, the Customer Service from the Distributor and Manufacturer is second to none! Sell everything you can (well almost) and buy one. You won't regret it! I don't! I needed an amp that sounds great but wouldn't blow out the smaller venues. My fenders were just too loud and I was losing tone quality by turning them down. This amp is perfect for last minute gigs or open mic nights. Great clean and dirty channels. Works great with multiple guitar types: Tele's, Paul's and open body guitars.
When I went shopping for my first valve amp, I originally decided on a Marshall DSL100. After my purchase I quickly fell out of love with the product because of it's unresponsive EQ section, and uncontrollable tone. I soon decided to take it back. Then I found this amp. This is by far the most versatile amp in this price range! The problems I had with the Marshall were nowhere to be found here. The EQ functions much better on this amp. Most notably, the bass response is beautiful. The dual EQ's are a welcomed feature as well since you will grow accustomed to using both channels regularly. The contour adjust is also a nice feature. The more you twist the knob, the more effect the contoured EQ will have on your tone. This is perfect for adding a little edge on your solos! The Clean/Crunch and Blues/Burn modes are simply amazing! The clean mode is crystal! The crunch is perfect for your rhythm parts! The blues mode is a delight to hear, and the burn mode pushes the 12AX7's and EL84's into a thick and creamy overdrive that's rich with harmonics! I'm not even sure if I need my overdrive pedals anymore. I also enjoy this amp's spring reverb. To my ear, it sounds perfect. I might not need my reverb pedal either! You have to try this amp! It'll handle anything you need it to!
Really a versatile amp I had my reservations about ordering this amp, I really didn't want a Fender sounding style amp, I own a couple of Marshall amps, but I wanted something that was portable and could do everything fairly well, clean and good crunch. I also love that the 12" has a Celeston speaker, something Mesa should really advertise, but doesn't seem to. A lot of the low wattage amps lose their appeal after a couple of hours of playing, but this still sounds great!
