After more than 20 years of providing one of the widest, deepest footprints in heavy music, as well as building a long list of chart-topping devotees outside the world of heavy, the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier tube guitar amp head has been reworked, retuned, and refined again.
With the amp head's patented multi-watt channel selectable power, an improved effects loop, channel assignable rectifier choices with rectifier tracking, a tuner out jack with silent tune feature, and a better footswitch, the Dual Rectifier head is more menacing than ever. You won't believe the tone upgrades on this Mesa Boogie ampl head either.
Many secrets have been unearthed in the last two decades and Mesa Boogie has used them all in this upgraded rendering. Improved Clean and Pushed settings in the amp head's Channel 1 offers a more soulful, earthiness in Raw, thicker layers of harmonics and more liquid gain in Vintage, and tighter gut-punching attack in Modern fill Channels 2 and 3.

This amplifier is AMAZING!! There are what seems like infinite option when it comes to tweeking your tone. It takes a while to ship, but definatly worth the bones. I bought the Rectifier cab to match it, and honestly you won't need any pedals or any effects. Maybe a tuner cause if your like me you won't wanna stop playing this beast!! Buy now!!
this amp is just sick good. after seeing some of my favorite artists live using these heads, i decided to give them a try. i tried the dual, triple, and road kings. the dual gave such a smooth and heavy gain, i fell in love. with the different options on each channel, you can play absolutely anything with this head! the 3 switching options on each channel lets me get any sound i want and the kick of the footswitch pedal. i went with this head for 1, the amazing sound quality, and 2, the abundance of options. and obviously, its a mesa, youll need to blow this sucker up with a grenade to damage it. i play it through a mesa 4x12 recto cab slant. its just got a great, heavy, raw sound. a find alot of amps nowadays seem really compressed and almost electronic feeling. these amps are very clean, tight, beautiful, and a great honest tone. if you love amps that have a big sound and are extremely well built, look no further, the dual rec is the only amp ill ever need
ill start off by saying it has a better distorted sound than anything else ive ever used (including line 6, peavey, fender, and various distortion pedals... even together). the clean channel is good, but not great. it has a little gain to it, but you can fix it with some work
I've played this amp many many times, and I don't see what all the fuss is about. It has four channels, and none of them sound very good. I would spend hours tweaking, trying desperately to get a good tone out of any of the channels, and it just never happened. The feel of the amps is very stiff high across the board, bended and sustained notes just seem to fade out immediately. The only reason I gave this amp over 1star is because I hate amps with too much gain, and I'm trying not to be too biased. This amp really shines however, if you either 1. Put so many effects pedals in front of it that you can't hear the origional tone anymore,or 2. Turn the gain up so high that any trace of tone or dynamics has been obliterated. Those methods are basically the secrets of artists who use these amps. I've also noticed that Mesas in general tend to make mahogany guitars like gibsons sound extremely muddy and undefined. To sum up, a lot of channels and features make you think you're dialing in awesome tone that turns out sounding aweful next to better amps. Please, do yourself a favor and try out something other than this amp before making your final descision.
This amp is only good for metal. Understand that going in. The clean channel is alright but in general the amp has low headroom so it distorts easily on hot pups. The 2 drive channels lack definition and aren't smooth- very gritty and noisy. So if you're going to play heavy metal then this is great, but anything else it's a joke.
