Does not come with dvd!

By Tiffany Wansley

from Jackson, MS

I just picked my order up from GC today. I was a disappointed that all the books didn't come with the cds/dvds. Only book 4 came with two cds. If I was a total beginner this would be a problem. Why would only Grade 4 come with audio? Why are they sold separately? Other than that I would say the material itself looks like great information with steady flow from complete beginner to advanced. The format reminds me of when I began the cello at age 11. So if you can read and follow instructions this should be a great tool. But without the cds or dvds I suggest beginning with a tutor. Or watch a couple of youtube vids. Those have been helpful to me.

Acoustic Man

By Ed S.

from Momence, IL.

Teaching beginner guitar lessons, I started my kids on Hal Leonard. Wrong!!! After checking out all of the guitar method books, I fell onto Mel Bay. Taking a chance, I ordered books one though five.(Extended Addition). Glad I did! All five hold so much information and really works your student out. These books are complete with several scales, songs, and guitar theory. And made so anyone could understand. I'm really happy about the first five books. Remember, order the extended edition, you get your moneys worth. Even as an Intermediate advanced player, books four and five present a challenge.

Great for anyone wantingn to learn to play and read music

By Nate

from springfield, ma

These books were recommended to me by an instructor. As a beginner they really simplify the guitar and how notes on the staff correlate to notes on the fretboard. These are also great for the experienced player wanting to expand on current abilities. These books are easy to read, simple to use, and can get anyone playing with sheet music in no time.
