I was looking for some acoustic percussion for my recordings. The slap top was perfect. Everyone that hears it Is amazed at the tone. It really lets me produce the personnel touch that I was looking for in my recordings. Very fun to play!!

Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

I tried the other slap-top cajon (with the single sound-hole) at the store and it really wasn't too impressive but had a nice feel being played from the top. I ordered this one instead after noticing the three sound-holes and reading about how it has snares on both sides. I play at a bi-weekly group open mic and wanted to shift from strings more into percussion. This cajon has a perfect volume range to play alongside a dozen guitar or just a single one. Also, great tones to it and a very responsive playing surface. Just watch the demonstration videos for hand and finger techniques.

          Great sound and versatility

Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

As a beginner/intermediate percussionist I was skeptical about playing cajon from the beginning because I thought it was too "world drum" sounding for the types of music I was doing in my church bands. I'm glad I was wrong. This slaptop cajon is pretty awesome. Being able to get 3 or more tones (bass, snare and tom) from a the simple t-shape design is great for beginners or I'd imagine for advanced percussionists alike. It needs pretty much no setup for acoustic gigs and maybe a simple one mic setup if you're looking to fill sound in a large area. It seems pretty sturdy. Now if they can just make a t-shaped bag for this thing that would be the cherry on top! 5 stars.

          Versatile instrument!

          By Tom

          from Hamden CT

Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

I was looking for my first cahon, but the standard ones require you to bend over while playing. My back is sometimes sensitive to bending, so when I saw this one I bought it. The upright playing position is easy on my back, and allows me to better interact with other musicians. It sound great too, and gives me more than half a dozen different sounds to work with. All in all I'm very satisfied.

          Great Sound, Perfect for Lefties!

          By James

          from Mansfield, TX

Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

Because the regular slap-top cajon has the snare on one side, as a lefty, I would have to awkwardly crossover for a snare hit (can't turn it around because of the forward-facing sound ports). With the Turbo, I have an additional snare sound on the right! With this versatility, I can create a more accurate roll effect and produce more quick fills. Great tone on the bass and tom areas as well. Powerful little instrument perfect for campfires or close-quartered music circles at church or intimate house parties. Very versatile and a joy to play. Also, good for teaching the beginning drummer to help with dexterity and rhythm without all the ear blasting of a full set.
