Worth Every Penny!

Comments about Meinl Trejon with Ebony Frontplate:

This cajon is different from others in that is has three separate faces. I will outline these for you. The largest of the three triangular regions is the bass section. When played in the top portion of that face with the palm of the hand, fingers spread and off the surface of the drum, the bass is booming. It sounds even better when you amplify it with a microphone. The "tom" section is adequate - in actuality, it sounds similar to the bass notes I got out of my other much smaller Peruvian cajon. The snare section is brilliant. Absolutely incredible. Fizzy and sharp, but with a woody tone behind it. Unfortunately, even though you CAN turn off the snare, the metal snare wires clink and clang against each other when not pressed against the face and make an annoying noise. That is my single complaint with this cajon, although I would never play without the snare on, in any case. Great cajon, sounds great acoustically or with a mic.

Great Sounding Cajon!

By Myles

Comments about Meinl Trejon with Ebony Frontplate:

As a guitar player, I needed a simple percussion like instrument that I could loop and then play over. This cajon exceeded my expectations! Not only can anyone play it, but it sounds superb! When you put a mic on it, and mess with the EQ, you can get a full, rich sound. Unmic'd, it's still fairly loud and has a good high end. Since only a simple sense of rhythm is needed to play a cajon, I recommend this product to anyone looking for an easy way to get a great sounding percussive like instrument.
