Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

I bought the slaptop cajon because it's much more comfortable to play than the traditional version. The sounds are good, although a friend pointed out that the snare sound is on the opposite side to that of a drum kit. I don't find that to be a problem, and overall this is a very convenient option if you want a good percussion instrument that won't hurt your back.

Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

Ordered online for same day in store pickup. Order had not arrived, so no payment confirmation. Took a lot of time & effort on everybody's part to complete the sale. I was advised by store personnel that if product appears as in stock online, Do Not order for same day pickup. Instead, calling the store and asking them to hold item would be easier. I agree.

      Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

Tried this instrument out for the first time last week at Guitar Center and fell in love, provides the sound of a Cajon with the feeling of just drumming on a desk or other hand percussion instruments. Has a great sound, deep bass, punchy snare, and can get some cool effects based on how you hit it. Really great product... 10/10

A great idea with a serious flaw

      By Dana McCurdy

      from Weehawken, NJ

      Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

This is a terrific design concept which sounds great, is much easier to play than a regular cajon (the "laptop" idea is brilliant and very practical), and was a lot of fun to use, for a month or so. The problem? Two different units developed cracks along the top edges (left or right side) after only a few weeks of gentle use, creating an annoying buzz which was way louder than the snare sound. It seems that the glue which bonds the top playing surface to the sides isn't strong enough to withstand normal use. So, with great reluctance (I LOVED this drum, for the brief time it was playable!), I returned my second unit for a refund. I miss it, but won't be buying another one until I'm sure Meinl has fixed the problem.

      Excellent instrument

      Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

I first saw the Slap-Top Cajon at NAMM 2013. I visited the Meinl booth numerous times to see the young lady playing it and I was hooked. When one of my bands decided to bring in several songs that would be perfect for me to play on the Slap-Top instead of my full kit, I ordered one. It shipped immediately and it was here fast! I love the cajon and plan on using it extensively. It sounds great, it looks great and it plays well. I may even have a place for it on a song I'm recording for an album with another band. It's a great addition to my percussion arsenal. Good job Meinl...

      Great Sounding Drum!

      By Minnie Beltran

      from Virginia Beach, VA

      Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

This drum is great, and after playing and hearing the ranges I can get I am shocked it?s so inexpensive. I own 2 other traditional cajons (one being the $300 Meinl trejon) and the slaptop has by far the BEST snare sound of any of them. The bass is not particularly deep but still there, and this drum has the added bonus of a tom sound which many cajons don?t have. Another great aspect of this drum is the upright playing surface. If not played correctly a traditional cajon can cause serious back problems over time but you don?t have to worry about that with this drums style. The only negative aspect I found was a durability problem. When I ordered my first slaptop I played it seriously hard for a couple days and I noticed a weird sound like two pieces of wood hitting each other in the lower bass section. I went to my local Guitar Center and got it replaced with a new one. I?ve had it almost 4 months now with no problems after I lightened my touch a bit and it still sounds great! Overall highly recommended instrument!

      nice box

      By Ron Fields

      from Fountain Hills, AZ

      Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

The innovative design is nice creating a better posture and balance for performing...look at the audience or sing. This position also allows you to use hi-hat and pedals. There are three distinct sounds the bass(middle), snare(left area) and tom(right area). I've only had for a month but seems to be well constructed and the Makah-Burl playing surface is nice.
