This box is perfect for jams and acoustic type shows. It has much more snare than bass. I've been beating on it almost every night for a few months now and it has shown no wear. The padded seat is good, and the rubber feet on the bottom keep it from slipping. It's a basic box, and gives you a nice balanced basic snare sound. It always picks up a song. Can't beat it for the price.

I was excited by the reviews I had read of this drum and thought that it was going to be a great value. I was especially intrigued by the "adjustable snare" feature. I could tell right away that the adjustable feature didn't work very well but I kept the drum because I had been waiting a long time to buy a cajn. In any case, the drum is attractive, the cushy seat and rubber feet are nice features and it has a good range. The problem is, no matter how you adjust it, the "sizzle" is more of a tinny ring that lingers, making it out of the question for recording. So if you must have a cajn and really can't afford a Schlgwerk or a Fat Conga, go for it- otherwise, the extra money is worth it.

Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:

This instrument sounds great and plays well. The only con is that on the side it has a slight flaw in the wood. On one side the wood is bowed. Besides that this is a great product.

My son really enjoys playing it. Loves the snare feature and how it turns on and off, as well as the portability. A bit expensive, but a good purchase.

The drum is a little heavy and a bit expensive but I think it is a good drum for the price, I would recommend buying it. It's very fun to just jam out with friends.

        Cajon lacks tone

        By James Morgans

        from Washington DC area

Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:

Although this cajon looks nice and is pretty well constructed it lacked the low end deep tones that I was hoping for. The snares and high end sounds were lacking as well. Probably the last time I will purchase an instrument without actually playing it. Not good enough for true accoustic sessions.

        worth every cent

        By Caitlin Williams

        from Pennsylvania

Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:

i spent a lot of time researching these drums before i got one, because i really wanted to get the right fit for me. If you are in a small band that records, or just wanna have a blast banging out rhythms, this is a great buy. although i can't play flamenco beats, it produces all the sounds for any country drum kit! : )
i spent a long time trying to find a cajon with the adjustable snares that was in my price range, and this one fit the bill. it has rubber feet on the bottom to keep you from sliding around on the floor. it also has a -thin- foam pad on top that makes playing for a long time tolerable. the snares sometimes vibrate with a "pang" sound when they shouldn't, but nothing a piece of paper wont fix...
the wood is actually a lot better than i thought. the frontplate has a great sound and you can definitely hear the three different basic pitches quite well, along some great sidetones. the bass is pretty good, but could be better. although maybe not for the price. it sounds great on a mic too.
this drum is a great buy. you are geting a lot of drum for a low price. and musicians friend is great.

        A Great Drum

        By Cory J

        from Port Orchard, WA

Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:

I purchased one of these after seeing it in action on stage. I couldn't be happier about it's performance. Excellent tone and projection played loud or soft. Snare sounds sharp and an elastic band stretched across the interior keeps it from silent when turned off. It's well built and sturdy, and It looks great too. 5 stars from me!

        Sounds Great

        By theDmaster

        from Atlanta, GA

Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:

I was kind of skeptical at first because I hadn't done that much research, but I am very pleased with it. It sounds awesome and the tones are very distinct. It sounds good hooked up to a mic as well. The only problem I have noticed is that when the snares are off, they sometimes jingle a little bit when you are playing. But there are ways to fix that. Other than that, I love it, and i can't wait to play it with some guitar.

Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:

This cajon is great for the price. if you are looking for a good cajon and don't want to spend a fortune on it buy this one! it works great with all music styles. the adjustable snare works ok. It could use a little more bass too. But overall it is a great cajon for a great price.
