Overview

The MCS series from Meinl Cymbals are precision crafted in Germany. They offer a wide array of sound options to satisfy the diverse styles of today's music. So whether you are playing rock, metal, pop, R&B, etc., these cymbals are well-suited to integrate into your setup.

The Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China contains 14" medium hi-hats, a 16" medium crash, a 20" medium ride, plus a free Filter China. These Meinl cymbals are all specially harmonically matched for the most musical sound. Created with the B8 alloy of 92 percent copper, 8 percent tin (plus traces of silver) for bright, rich, laser-clear sound quality.

The Free 14" Filter China cymbal provides a fast, sharp, and almost sinister sound. Quieter than most China cymbals, it has a short sustain due to the waved edge. Most remarkably, its look is achieved by a capillary fine lathing process that sets the bell apart from the rest of the cymbal's surface. This highly technical lathing process results in a clearer and more projecting bell sound.

A deep lathing groove is applied on to the cymbal's surface, remarkably reducing its thickness and weight. This results in a quicker response that enables the sound to unfold much easier. Along with precise hammering patterns, the new Meinl MCS cymbals set the standard in this price range.

I have had this pack for about 2 months now and I am very satisfied with them. I play very rough on my cymbals and if your a rough player you don't have to worry these won't break on you anytime soon. The only thing is the Filter China sounds its just a Traditional China is much more durable and the sound is much better from a Traditional China. So 5/5

Well I know I could(should) have spent a lot more money. I'll say this, the ride is pretty good, the hats--definitely geared to hard rock/metal sound. The crash WAS satisfactory. Bought them in 9/2013, today(12/2013) the crash has lost all resonance and sounds awful. Contacted Meinl warranty and this is not a warranty condition according to Garrett Davidson of Meinl. So, in comparison to the cheapest Zildjian these sound slightly better, because the cheap Zildjian sound like trash. I am bummed that the cymbal failed so quickly and with surprising little use--my drummer doens't exacting smash them like some folks do either. Not impressed guys and gals.

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

These were my first set of cymbals, and they have yet to fail me. Meinl's German crafted cymbals have a unique and clear sound in all of their models, and this pack is great for beginner and intermediate players. Be careful of the Generation X China if you are a heavy hitter though, as cracks may begin to form at the holes.

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

These are great cymbals for anyone looking to add to their existing set or start from scratch. If you're a hard hitter like myself, you've probably cracked a few expensive cymbals and wanted to die because the warranty had expired. In this case, these cymbals are pretty durable and they sound great. From the first time I played live with them, people were already remarking on how much more they could hear the brightness in the playing. I would recommend to anyone looking for something that can take a beating and last a while at the same time.

The one con, and I could just be biased, but the hi-hats seem a little on the flat side with regard to their shimmer. The ride bell is awesome, but you have to locate the sweet spot or else it is all sour sounds.

That's really it. I love them, and I'd buy it again.

PS - The China cymbal is awesome sounding!

These were purchased as a gift for my son who has been drumming for about 6 years now. He absolutely loves them and their sound. He has told me several times how awesome they are and juding by the amount of time he plays them, I'd say that he is more than pleased! You won't be dissapointed in this cymbal pack, it's a great set at a great price!

Great Cymbals at a Great Price

      By Ronald Brown

      from Wilmington, DE

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

So I ordered these cymbals because I truly wanted Paistes but the price of what I wanted was just a lil too high and to me paistes have the best sound it's like when you hit them they sound like they are being played in stereo. So I went on a search for some cymbals that wouldn't be too pricey but would give me that sound. I first looked into the zildjians but to be honest I didn't like the sound of most of them outside of the K and A series the rest of them to me sound like you're hitting a trash can especially the zbt, zxt, and zht series. I then looked at the sabians and they were better than the zildjians in my eyes but again to get the sound I was looking for and I would've had to buy the HHX series to get the sound I was looking for still which is still way out of my price range and AAX series was close as well. So I went to the meinl series and started at the bottom with the HCS series looked at those and they were good but I wanted something a lil higher up but didn't want to have to spend crazy so I checked out the MCS series and it just blew my mind that they sounded so good for the price. And the fact that they are harmonically balanced really makes a difference. The sounds all match and it just sounds extraordinary. And the hi-hats they are killer. I play mostly hip-hop and r&b and funk and these things are crazy. I took to rehearsal yesterday and everybody couldn't believe how good these new cymbals I had sounded but what really blew their mind was the price I paid. So I will say this if you want a great cymbal on a budget then get these asap.

      Meinl cymbals review

      By Joel Glisson

      from Georgia

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

Overall these cymbals are very well built with a dirt cheap price. These make good cymbals for beginners and more experienced players. I highly recommend this to any person looking for great cymbals for a low price. These cymbals are also very universal in music styles. You can play the hardcore drumming of metal to the soft sounds of jazz.
These cymbals have great features. The bells on all the cymbals are clean and bright. These definitely beat most sabian and zildjian cymbals.
These cymbals sound a lot better than the price. I felt worried buying these cymbals at first because they were so cheap. Honestly these are the best cymbals I have ever played on. The only thing that could have been improved is the ride. The ride had a great tone and pitch, but it was not as clear sounding as I wished. Overall these are exellent cymbals.
The value is the best money can buy. You get a very great sounding cymbal set These are worth at least
$200 more than what you pay for them.

      Great Cymbals

      By Joshua Husted

      from Larksville, PA

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

These are my first ever cymbals I bought. The cymbals sound great for the price. I've owned these cymbals for just over a month now and my 16" Crash has about 5 cracks in it and one of them is progressively getting bigger. But I am 99% sure that this is only because of my aggressive/hard hitting play style or my striking technique since I am a beginning drummer. So for those that play hard and use their crash(s) often, I'd recommend purchasing one of many 17"-18" medium crash(s) from Meinl. Every other cymbal I have purchased in the MCS series has been very durable, and sound great. The filter china sounds awesome and it's a great addition to any kit. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. It's a great starter pack, and I personally love anything involving Meinl because their products are some of the best around for drummers. I highly recommend these cymbals to any drummer!

      Two thumbs up

      By David Hodgin

      from Arizona

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

If your a beginner I highly reccomend these, I had these when I was first starting out and they met my expectaions, especially the Thomas Lang Filter china (which I still use). The only thing I didnt like about these cymbals were the Hi-Hats, they didnt sound as quality. Ive moved up from all these cymbals straight to the Byzance Brilliant (which I also Highly reccomend) !

      Best buy ever!

      By Christopher Kirma

      from Scottsdale, Arizona

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

In all honesty these cymbals are amazing, i was contemplating whether or not to buy them after I heard them on the Meinl website. The Hi-hats sounds really dark and deep sounding over my speakers, but hearing these things in real life make a completely different sound come to to life in these cymbals. I made the analogy that if Brisk the soda, were to fashion itself into some kind of metal, then these cymbals would be it! They are so crisp and clean, for the money these things are amazing!
