good for beginners and hobbyists

By christian

from new york city

I got this cymbal about a year ago and it recently cracked, I did my best to fix it and cut out the crack, a month or so later it cracked again. All and all its not bad but if you want a good quality cymbal that will last for a few years id look at more advanced cymbals by Meinl

It does the job for a cheep cymbal

By Kenneth Handschuh

from Youngstown, FL

I own Zildjian, Sabian, Instanbul, Wuhan and now a Meinl. I needed a crash-ride to fill out my floor-tom practice kit and while I think I would have preferred the Wuhan crash-ride this Meinl does the job rather well.

Awesome!

By Corey

from Connecticut

This cymbal really gets the job done. I play every genre and this cymbal can deliver the sound needed for almost any beat. When playing metal or hitting this cymbal hard, it keeps up and does not break easily. Depending on how you hit it, you can get a nice ride or crash sound. For it's price, it is probably the best deal out there.

Strong Cymbal

By kwl82080

from new york

I'v had this cymbal over a year, It's very strong cymbal! every friend iv had has come over and beat on this thing , Theres no signs of wear just sum stick marks , as far as sound goes i dont crash it much , I did put sum Duct tape on the bottom of it so it doesnt ring as long, the duct tape works kinda like a muffling pad would, I like the sound now when u use it as a ride and the bell isnt bad, so i use it for a ride more then a crash..

It's Alright

By Jason

from Westminster, CA

The bottom line is that there isnt a better cymbal at this price. I've had mine for over a year and i use it mainly as a ride, its fine, no cracks or chips, but i dont try to kill my cymbals while playing. I would recomend it as a crash cuz it sounds pretty bad as a crash, but it makes a fine ride. For the price, it gets the job done.

great while it lasts

By PT

from Wisconsin

So I got this cymbal about 4 months ago to replace my stock crash/ride. The outstanding price made me get it, and when I got it the sound was great! I was using it for a ride for awhile after I got my 16" Meinl HCS Crash (highly recommend), and it was actually pretty good for a ride. Then I got my Paiste PST 5 Medium Ride. I didn't need my Meinl Crash/Ride anymore, so I decided to make it a crash. No. The pitch was real deep and just dull, and went on a little too long. What used to be a great bright crash/ride has become a dud when you use it as a ride for an amount of time. So don't plan on keeping this cymbal, but it's great if you are replacing and just going to save up some money for a new cymbal.

WOW!!!

By Preston

from Sussex, WI

this is my first buy from Mienl, and it will not be my last. this cymbal is great, with kind of a china sound when tilted, the ride is ok, but the crash is probably what it was made for, despite it being a crash/ride. VERY EXPLOSIVE and loud sound, but not too loud so it's unbearable. I will probably get the rest of the Mienl HCS series, the Splash and the Ride probably, but you will not be disappointed with this Crash/Ride!

Say they are great

By Bebe

from San Francisco

I bought this Crash/Ride to round out my set of MEINL HCS cymbals. I have the HCS 14" Hi-Hat, the HCS 16" Crash and the HCS 20" Ride. My instructor said they were great sounding and really good for practice and good enough for performing. What could be better for the student than inexpensive, great sounding cymbals. MEINL HCS cymbals rock!
