I got this cymbal a while back because I really like the sound of meinls. It hasn't dented or cracked in the 2ish years I've had it which is quick impressive. The reason for it being impressive is because you have to really hit this cymbal to get an ok sound from it. If you are a jazz, indie, latin, or any other form of non-heavy drum set playing this cymbal is not for you! Light hits from this cymbal really stink. I suggest this cymbal is you are an intro metal drummer on a budget because of its durability and heavy sound but nothing else. On the other hand, the HCS hi-hats and ride a far more decent and work for most genres.

Best for the money

By Jessy

from Joshua Tree, CA

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I use to use Zildjian ZBT's and they were good but i wanted to try something new so i got one of these crashes. This brand is awesome, it sounds beautiful and i think it sounds way better the the Zildjina zbt. I am a hard hitter and this cymbal has laster longer than any crash i had before.

Good Cymbal

By Kevin Jorrey

from Ohio

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I got this cymbal in a set for my first drumset. It still hasn't cracked and I've played around 50 concerts with it. So in that respect it's good. My only problem is that it is too thin. That's just my personal preference. The tone is too high. So I'm looking to get a higher-end Meinl because I still like the company very much.

Get the Bigger one!

By Brian

from Indianapolis, IN

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I used to have HCS before I got B8's(amazing!). The 16in is the best brass cymbal I have ever heard. The 14in on the other hand is bad. I thought it would sound like a higher-pitched version of the other crash, but it sounds more like a splash with crashy overtones. Get the 18in crash/ride instead of the 14in if you want another HCS crash. The 16in still makes up for the smaller one!

Meinl HCS crash cymbal

By slipknotfan666

from Broomall, Pa

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I love this crash cymbal! First off its loud but not to the point of overpowering anybody in my band. If played with 16th notes it can give a pretty good wash. The only down side to it is that it you are a heavy hitter like me, itll tend to be bent out of shape after relentless playing. Mine bent in about 5-6 months which is great for what i paid for it and the enitre hcs new begginer pack. If you dont want to break a budget but are looking for an outstanding crash, this is the one for you.

Cheaper is better

By James

from Rialto, CA

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

When I bought this cymbal i was planning on it cracking in a few months, 2 years later its still my favorite 14in crash. Worth every penny you didn't spend on a $200 name plate. I didn't cring everytime I hit it.

Boy, do you get your money's worth!

By Dillon

from Phoenix, Arizona

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I got the HCS Hi-hats, 14" and 16" crash, and 20" ride and I gotta tell ya, these things beat anything for the price. I've tried Paiste and was very dissapointed. I'd even take these cymbals over Sabian B8's any day. However, the 14" crash sounds pretty splashy, but thats what you get with a smaller crash. Also, to get any kind of "crash" sound, you have to hit these things extremely hard, otherwise you just get this frying pan sound. It's not a bad sound, just a cheap cymbal sound. But they're more than worth the money, they never tarnish, they clean easily, and they're literally indestructable...

Excellent Cymbal for an Excellent Price!!

By Glenn Burchett

from Alexandria, VA

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I just got a Sound Percussion 8-Piece Double Bass drum kit and I needed to have a few cymbals to go along with it. The first moment I saw this, I knew exactly what I wanted. This thing is beautiful!! It looks shiny on the picture here. Trust me, it's not. It's SUPER shiny! It has an excellent, brilliant sound to it, which my band members are just raving over! And it's also really light. Easy to transport from gig to gig if needed. Get this one! You will NOT be dissappointed!

Meinl HCS Cymbals Rock!!!!

By JOHNNY GRANT

from Los Angeles, CA.

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I bought the super cymbal pack (Meinl HCS). These cymbals are totally awesome. Great sound and durability at an affordable price. Since I have gotten the super cymbal pack, I have been slowly adding more cymbals to my set, including the Meinl HCS 14" crash, the Meinl Low Bell and an 8" splash. These cymbals rock!!!!
