I got this cymbal a while back because I really like the sound of meinls. It hasn't dented or cracked in the 2ish years I've had it which is quick impressive. The reason for it being impressive is because you have to really hit this cymbal to get an ok sound from it. If you are a jazz, indie, latin, or any other form of non-heavy drum set playing this cymbal is not for you! Light hits from this cymbal really stink. I suggest this cymbal is you are an intro metal drummer on a budget because of its durability and heavy sound but nothing else. On the other hand, the HCS hi-hats and ride a far more decent and work for most genres.

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I have to say there are some cymbals that are bad like the 8" splash from this brand but the others are very good. I have the 16" crash and the 18" crash and they both sound amazing. I would buy these cymbals again for someone. These cymbals have a good responds to the stick and have a good feel sound.

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I bought this 14" cymbal to make my kit more complete and to add a different sound than my 16" crash. It has a good sound and so far pretty durable. I love it. I would recommend it to others.

        Meinl HCS Cymbals Rock!!!!

        By JOHNNY GRANT

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I bought the super cymbal pack (Meinl HCS). These cymbals are totally awesome. Great sound and durability at an affordable price. Since I have gotten the super cymbal pack, I have been slowly adding more cymbals to my set, including the Meinl HCS 14" crash, the Meinl Low Bell and an 8" splash. These cymbals rock!!!!

        No good

        By Osvaldo Godoy

        from Pomona CA

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

Ive been playing for over 5 years now and i must say that these cymbals arent great. They sound decent but im a hard hitter and these cymbals cracked in just 6 months. I owned some beginner Zildjian planet Z cymbals and those lasted me longer. The 16" crash when hit hard has a very short sustain and is just plain terrible. Dont settle for these.

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I got the 18" and 16" crashes, and I don't regret spending the money. They Sound great. The 16" doesn't sustain as much as I like but it still sounds great! Definitely try them out!

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I bought the 16in crash and all i have to say is wow. i was on a budget and it looked like a nice cymbal so i bought it and never looked back. It has a nice bright sound and could even work as a ride. the cash is loud and crisp perfect for any kind of music. ive had it for about 6 months and it hasn't a scratch on it. This cymbal is a great cymbal for the price and looks really nice! the only other thing i can say about it is Buy It!

A good crash for a fine price

        By Conner Lathem

        from Fort Worth, Texas

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I purchased a used 16" crash at my local Guitar Center that was thoroughly beaten up because I needed something to replace my Stagg CX crash (which really just didn't sound like a crash at all). I figured that since this thing was a Meinl HCS, I'd get a slightly better crash than what I already had. Well I was wrong. I got a WAYYYY better crash than what I already had. This cymbal sounds pitiful when hit lightly, but if you really smack it hard, it makes that explosive sound that sound that you'd expect any good crash to make. Of course, this thing is not perfect. It doesn't make the kind of sound you'd get from a Zildjian A custom crash. This cymbal continues to ring quietly for a while after it is struck, and though the actual "crash" sound itself is bright and powerful, it in some ways seems to be hiding another less appealing sound that expensive crashes don't make. That being said, this crash is loud, dynamic, and as far as I can tell, very durable. Again, I got this thing used. Judging by the marks, scratches, and little spots where the shiny finish was completely gone, this "beginner cymbal" had taken a serious beating from it's previous owner. But on top of that, this thing isn't even the slightest bit deformed. Not even a DENT! And no matter how hard I've played it up to this day, it has not shown any signs of loosing it's shape or cracking. This is not the kind of cymbal that breaks slowly. I'm starting to think that when this thing finally does break (if it even can), it'll just randomly explode into a fireball and cease to exist. Okay, all jokes aside, this is another quality product from Meinl that won't let you down for the price you pay. But remember; if you don't pay for a top-quality crash, you won't get one, either.

        really good cymbal.

        By Jacob Brown

        from ohio

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

this cymbal has a very long life expectancy lol and it has a very bright tone. only problem is it's EXTREMELY loud. but for me, it's just right, because i'm a loud player either way. and this cymbal sounds extremely well as a ride. better than my ride and it's a paiste actually. i bought an 18". i highly recommend this product.

        Great Cymbal for the price

        By Corey

        from spokane, wa

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal:

I got the 16" because of all the reviews saying it sounded the best. For the price it's an awesome cymbal. I'm thinking of getting a smaller crash or splash Meinhl cymbal as well.
