This is one of the most amazing cymbal packs out there! Especially for the price. The Hi-Hats give a nice click, and a good sound when you do a hi-hat swing. The Crash is bright, and gives the impression that something is acutally crashing. And the Ride is just outstanding! The bell sounds amazing just like the rest of the cymbal. I say buy this if your replacing old, worn out, cracked cymbals.

I picked this set up when I first got my new drum set. I needed a full setup because I've only had an electric kit for the past few years. Starting off: the hi-hats are great. They're a little heavier than I'm used to, but for the price you can't beat them. They sound nice and crisp. But that's where the positives end. The crash sounds washed out and dead. It sounds more like a ride than a crash (exaggerating, but still). And the ride is washed out sounding with little definition. I definitely regret the purchase.

Meinl HCS

Comments about Meinl HCS Complete Cymbal Set-Up:

when I first bought my kit, these cymbals came with it. Now I am a metal/rock/jazz drummer and if you play somthing similar, dont waste your money... even if you think you're getting a cymbal package from meinl for this cheap, its not a good idea. The 14" high hats, 16" crash, 12" china, and the 20" ride are heavy and sound bad. the sustain is too long, and no matter how hard you hit, very little sound is produced

Comments about Meinl HCS Complete Cymbal Set-Up:

I bought these to pair with a Ludwig Breakbeats kit and am very happy with them. The hats are GREAT, the ride is pretty good and the crash is decent. I've had the Sabian B8 and Zildjian ZBTs in the past but in my opinion these are better.

Great Cymbals

By Alex

from Hartford, WI

Comments about Meinl HCS Complete Cymbal Set-Up:

I just got these with my Tama Superstar and they sound a lot better than I thought they would. I was always a bit skeptical on these because they are so cheap, but I was wrong. The ride is very bright with a great bell and a nice ring to it, not to much though. The crash is also very bright, and the hi-hats are great all-around hats. THEY ARE POWERFUL. I don't know why other people say they aren't, but they are wrong. These cymbals are great.

Best Quality for the Price

By Dan

from Akron, OH

Comments about Meinl HCS Complete Cymbal Set-Up:

I bought this pack 2 years ago, and was amazed by the quality. The hi hats have a nice chick sound, the ride has a warm sound to it and the crash is just amazing! Just be warned these cymbals are pretty heavy so don't buy them if you are looking for thin/light cymbals. After two years of pretty hard playing there are a lot of marks, but no dents or cracks. Definitely the best deal for beginner/intermediate players.

Easily Best Beginner/Budget Cymbals

By Kevin Winters

from Carthage, Illinois

Comments about Meinl HCS Complete Cymbal Set-Up:

I got these cymbals when i started picking the drums up again, i sold all my previous gear. And these sound amazing, the ride is absolutely perfect, washes great and rides well. The crash has great body with heavier sticks, and the hi hats sound better than every other beginner hi hats i've heard before. Overall, much better than zildjian zxt's, zht's, or zbt's, i highly recommend these and i dont think ill buy any other cymbals besides meinl from now on

Comments about Meinl HCS Complete Cymbal Set-Up:

The crash and ride cymbals are acceptable but I think that the awesome hi-hats are almost worth the price of the entire package. Very clean and bright.

Just what I was looking for

By William Wuerfel

from Jacksonville, FL

Comments about Meinl HCS Complete Cymbal Set-Up:

I was planning to buy the MCS series of cymbals, but after trying this HCS set at my local Guitar Center I decided on these. The sound is the closest I've found to a set of Zildjians I had back in the 1970s and I couldn't be happier!
