Overview

The Meinl Berimbau is a traditional African instrument that is commonly used in the music of Brazil and other South American countries. It is the staple instrument of capoeira, the famous martial arts dance. The thin striker and a caxixi are held in the right hand, while the left hand supports the bow and modulates the string with a small metal disc. The whole Berimbau is moved off and on the abdomen, opening and closing the resonant gourd, for a captivating wah-wah effect.

Entertaining Instrument

Comments about Meinl Fiberglass Berimbau:

if u are looking for a different sound, this thing is definately something to get. i have to play it sitting down because my hands are pretty small, but its very easy to learn. if anyone is familiar with the bands cavalera conspiracy, soulfly, or sepultura, this is the instrument max cavalera uses in a few songs, most notably in "tribe". all in all i suggest getting this if u want something new, plus it wont break the bank.
