Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Ride Cymbal:

Just got the 20'' to replace my 21'' Sabian HH Raw Bell Dry Ride and I'm loving this cymbal! It's got a medium-light feel to it, perfect for lighter jazz or funk. It crashes nicely too, as I can play heavier style beats on it too. It has some good stick definition and keeps the overtones complex and variable around the cymbal, which can be attributed to it's hand hammered quality. The best thing about it is probably the bell, which is super dry and blends beautifully with the cymbal. Some bells are really defined and ping hard, this one just makes you want to groove with it. All in all, I'm gonna be using this one for quite a while!

Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Ride Cymbal:

Articulate, yet crashable. Heavy, but not thick feeling. Dark overtones, but not too dry. This cymbal can do anything! I play death metal/black metal to funk to prog rock. It can be used as a big crash/ride or a pingy ride. There is no ride I would rather have in my arsenal. Not even the Sabian Groove Ride. The Groove Ride is super versatile and crashable with a strong bell, but it doesn't have as much character, responsiveness, or beauty as this Meinl Byzance Dark Ride.

I have the 21" version and it crashes like a 24" yet is tight sounding as an undersized heavier ride.

        Excellent

        By Travis Corwell

Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Ride Cymbal:

The Byzance Dark series cymblas are seriously unique! They have dark overtones to them but they're versital enough to play in any setting. If you're looking for an alternative to brighter lathed cymbals this is the way to go. I play typically rock, alternative, christian contemporary, and some pop and the Dark series give me what I'm looking for every time. In lighter songs the ride's tones are definitive from the edge to the bell and the crashes compliment it so well. About 2 months ago I bought 14" hats, 16" and 18" crashes and this 20" ride. The ride projects but when crashed it doesn't sound unnatural or overpowering. It's really the perfect blend of dark tones without being to dry. I like a nice high pitched ping from a bell and this ride delivers there too. I spent this past summer playing all the top brands looking to replace my old sheet cymbals and after much deliberation the Meinl's won out. The looks can't be beat either! They're hand hammered and don't show the marks that most lathed cymbals reveal after some playing. My 18" crash is used and is slightly less glossy looking than the new cymbals but the cymbals aren't "shiny" to begin with so it shows almost no wear. Under the lights these cymbals make my ebony PDP kit look very unique. Meinl's cymbals are simply inspiring! You need to try these!

        Sweetest Ride

        By Kristian

        from Chino, CA

Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Ride Cymbal:

This ride is the best ride I've ever used. I use a 21" for touring. It's gone on quite a few road trips with me, and I really trash my cymbals at shows. This ride has gone to hell and back and is still as beautiful as the day I got it. It has amazing dark tones like I've never heard in any other dark cymbal. The sustain is just the perfect amount, too. I would recommend this ride to anyone who wants a ride that isn't so bright.

        WOW !!! What a ride

Comments about Meinl Byzance Dark Ride Cymbal:

I just got this 21" Version a couple weeks ago and this thing is AMAZING. I was going to to use it along with my Zildjan Ride.. but this thing has such a good sound to it, the bell is the most unique feature about it. It is very, VERY dark sounding, but it is still very unique and punches through the rest of the sound of the drums with ease. I get complimented a lot on it, so much in fact that I am debating on removing my Zildjan ride completly from the setup.Worth its money, for sure.
