All this handwork goes into making a true musical instrument. These china cymbals have a nice dark character with an explosive attack and a long decay. Comments about Meinl Byzance China Traditional Cymbal:

My favorite china of all time. I have broken the 20" version of this twice. Once two songs into a practice just after receiving a replacement. I only use this cymbal to record with now but its just simply the best I have ever heard and used.

Byzance 18 inch china

By Zach

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Meinl Byzance China Traditional Cymbal:

i just got this cymbal, and this thing is great. it is the perfect china cymbal for metal, punk, hard rock, etc. it has a nice dark trashiness, but it is accompanied by a nice tone. the different sound characteristics blend together into a great sound, and ive never heard a cymbal quite like it. when in the mix with drums, it is not that loud, but its unique tone provides a nice cut which is, like i said, very unique and different from any other cymbal. also when in the mix, it has a noticeable quickness to it. this cymbal works great when playing music by bands like A Day to Remember, Asking Alexandria, Pierce the Veil, etc. i highly recommend this cymbal, its worth every penny

HORRIBLE

By Matt

from Imperial MO

Comments about Meinl Byzance China Traditional Cymbal:

This cymbal absolutely sucks! I got the 16" on Christmas 2010 and I completely hate it! It sounds like your throwing a rock at an old trash can. It has way too much overtone. Im switching to a Sabian AA Fast Chinese 18" which I recommend to everyone. They should really stop making this cymbal cause it sucks.

Comments about Meinl Byzance China Traditional Cymbal:

Okay, so basically this is probably one of the greatest china i have EVER heard. It's super dark and fast and just makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside. That's saying something from me, since i am extremely picky about chinas (i only know of four that i really like). this one ranks up there, if you really like dark fast china's with little to no overtones, i would recommend this or the Paiste 2002 wild china...

Amazing sound, but delicate!

By DrumBoy

from Undisclosed

Comments about Meinl Byzance China Traditional Cymbal:

I got the 20" about a month ago. Two weeks later, it cracked... Such a pity since it sounded so perfect. I guess my only advice would be to not use fat or massive sticks, because you will hit much harder with them. This is a relatively thin china, so it can't take a hardcore beating (like I thought it could). Use average sticks like 5As (5Bs at the biggest) and you should be fine. Any fatter and there's a slight risk of cracking.

Crisp

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Meinl Byzance China Traditional Cymbal:

My friend owns this and I play his set all the time. He is a die hard Meinl guy and I stand by Sabian but this cymbal is a home run. Mixes well and is really crisp sounding. He has the 16" china. It graps the sound you want from a china and it doesn't over do the other cymbals. Worth the money for sure.

AMAZING

By metalmanfrombath

Comments about Meinl Byzance China Traditional Cymbal:

This china is amazing....sounds trashy and beautiful. I would recommend this over any zildjian or sabian china hands down. plus chris adler uses a custom 17" version of this china as his main china. BUY IT NOW and you won't disappointed!
