  • Hi-Hats are Good, Crash/Ride is Horrible

As reviewed by Jordan Huard on 4/2/2011

My school has these with a drum set, and I really like the hi-hats. The hi-hats have a nice short sound. Whether we're playing jazz, and using the hi-hat with our foot, or playing rock, and doing eighth or sixteenth notes with it, it gets a nice, crisp sound. But the Crash/Ride is horrible. Our school, like most, is on a very strict budget. That's why we bought these. Since we're on such a strict budget we use this to roll on with mallets in concert band. It sounds horrible. Even in jazz band if you're hitting it with a stick. It gets a sound that's not going to get past the sound of the rest of the band. And if it did, you would've wished it hadn't. However, these aren't the cymbals that will crack, unless you try to make them crack. I recommend getting the hi-hats from this, but buying a different crash/ride.

I got a friend who bought got these cymbals with his new Tama Imperialstar drumset, there not bad. I wouldn't have chosen those for my set. The good for an Intermediate player & great for a beginner. I've seen waaaaaay better cymbals. I don't really recommend these unless your buget is "skin-tight"
