Sings with chiming, metallic sustain.

This 8" high bell by Meinl has a sound with a very long sustain and a dry, pingy, brilliant stick response. Artists such as Thomas Lang and Benny Greb use an 8" Classics Bell as the bottom cymbal for their famous right foot hi-hat (along with a regular 8" splash as the top).

Meinl Classics Series cymbals prove their worth with matched sounds and outstanding quality. But moreover, Classics cymbals are unparalleled in the semi-professional range with regard to their extensive selection of different models.

  • Even though you might disagree...

As reviewed by Jacob on 3/6/2011

this is better then the Zil Bel. Sure, the Zil Bel has more popularity, but after trying it out at gigs, it was much too quiet (these were small venues, so no mics). This little bell can cut through me crashing on a 22" powerful ride, and still sounds great on a ride. Plus, it's a lot more inexpensive. If you want the Zil Bel, have fun wasting $50 more dollars on something that has to be mic'd constantly.

  • Best of the Classics Bells

As reviewed by Jon on 2/2/2011

Unlike the other 2 bells from Meinl (not including the new M-Series one), this bell has much less of a "splashy" quality, and more of a focused, high-pitched ping. It actually does work great stacked on a ride, and actually has less sustain than a Zil Bel. I highly reccommend it!

  • Great Bell

As reviewed by Brian on 12/13/2010

This is a great bell, especially for metal, mainly because it has its own character instead of just sounding like another ride. It's much more dry and articulate than the Zil Bel, and it's much less expensive as well. The only problem is the fact that you'd rather have it on an extra stand than putting it on your ride because it's just okay as a ride bell. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.
