After recently deciding to take up the guitar, I realized that my small stature was going to make it a bit difficult. In picking out a guitar I really looked through all the 3/4 and "baby's" and travels I could find, the sound out of the LXM Little Martin was much better than the Fender, Squire, and Yamaha. The Baby Taylor did sound better, but it's harder to play (you have to push very hard on the strings) and a bit too big! So the LXM with it's smooth sound seems the perfect fit, literally for me. I would recommend it for students, kids and travelers, as it really has a memorable sound and light touch.

Packs a big punch

By Martin Ikeda

from Des Moines, IA

I own the LXME Ed Sheeran, which is a great little guitar! When a family member asked my opinion on which small guitar to get, I did not hesitate to recommend Martin. The LX is HPL, but it sounds like a solid top guitar. I love the wood grain on the back of the neck and headstock. The tone of this guitar when compared to all the other 3/4 guitars, is far superior (I've owned a Laguna LD-1, Yamaha JR, and Taylor Baby). The Laguna comes closest to sound. The Taylor has an ebony neck, which is nice, but has mostly treble, very little bass. The Martin feels like an ebony neck, and projects. The natural finish is beautiful, but the pics of the all black are impressive as well. Tuners are nice, finish is quality, action was perfect out of the box, easy to fret, great for fingerstyle or strumming. Side-by-side to all 3/4 guitars, even though you pay a little bit more for this guitar, it is far, far superior to its competitors: higher quality build, more attractive finish, and sounds absolutely stunning. Comes with a bag. And it's a Martin. Check the reviews: 20X more people are buying and reviewing this guitar, and there's a reason for it-it's the best travel guitar out there!

Great Little Helper!

By MICHAEL BRANDMEIER

from Madison, WI

With the restrictions on airplanes now--just ease of travel when you want to bring a guitar but there's not room or just to avoid the extra cartage--here's your answer. GREAT, fun guitar to play--sounds awesome. I use it mainly for writing. But it has a big sound for a little guitar. I have the black---Very fun.

Great travel or jamming guitar!

By Robert Basilio

from Atlanta, GA

The size is perfect: small and light enough to take with me anywhere and play in cramped spaces, but large enough to have a good, full sound. The sound goes very well with fingerpicking, and can handle light strumming as well. The body seems very durable as well, and has already has passed the first few tests of sitting in the car with flying colors. I play this guitar now more than any of my other guitars! I only have three complaints, none of which are a dealbreaker. First, it can't handle my usual heavy strumming, so I've learned to compensate. Second, the intonation (with my guitar, at least), is just a little off in the top B and E strings. Not enough where most people will notice, but if you have a good enough ear, it can be hard tune it so every single chord rings perfectly. This is aggravated by the fact that third, the tuners can't fine tune as well, taking a few tries to land in tune. For the price though, this is definitely worth the buy!

Little firecracker with big sound

By Danny Poole

from Coats N.C.

very nice for a small guitar,it has the big guitar sound.I would rather have it than any full size low end acoustic guitar.Your hands are not cramped on it and plays excellent all the way up the neck.Bar chords no problem.I did own a Alvarez fd60 the Martin will blow it away ,If any thing happened to this guitar I would replace it with the same.

GREAT LITTLE GUITAR

By dani california

Just bought this little guitar to bring up with me to college and I am very pleased. It sounds wonderful (way better than the full size Fender I had been playing) and I can't put it down. Highly recommended!

Who would have thunk it at this price !!!!! Guitar Center is fantastic.

By Ray Elliott

from Sparks, Nevada

I gave up playing a guitar several years ago because of arthritis in my hands. I found a banjo and ukulele to be comfortable. When I thought I would try a guitar again I wanted something that was not way out of proportion to a banjo or ukulele and within my price range. I reviewed most of the smaller body guitars and selected the LXM. This is my 3rd Martin, the other two much more expensive than this one. This little Martin can stand along side the other two. Very well built, may have the most beautiful neck I've ever seen on a guitar. When playing you feel a vibration against your body that you don't usually feel from a guitar that's not been played a while.

Perfect Guitar for the new musician

By Pamela Nechville

from Berwyn PA

This is a great starter guitar for a young student or even an adult. Learning the acoustic guitar can be very overwhelming and this Little Martin makes learning a breeze. It is a great size for any age, you know you have always wanted to learn to play so let's get started and this Martin is the perfect choice.

Fun guitar

By Timothy Spillane

from Upton, Ma

I just picked one up for traveling because of it's size. It's a lot of fun to play, and has a deep tone. It's not for playing to an audience but is great for practice and travel should be easy. A good deal at the price.

Bang for the buck!

By Jasper

from Ballwin,Mo

I bought one of these bad babies about 4yrs ago for travel to london without having to checking my full size guitar. It has been my favorite guitar ever since. I prefer this to my full size Ovation and I can leave it out around my kids without the worry of it getting banged up. Awesome price and awesome sound for the money.
