Finally got it!

Comments about X Series Ed Sheeran X Signature Edition Little Martin Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Just picked up a new Ed SHeran x series. I have to say martin finally nailed it with this one! I've had the other martin minis and they were marginal. They quality was great but the tone was questionable. This new signature x guitar is definitely great for playing on the couch or concert. I'm very impressed with the tightness and tone plugged in or not. I thought it might sound weak not plugged in, but that's not the case here. I even put it up against the new Martin junior dreadnought that just arrived in the store and the x series won. The junior feels suspiciously like a Taylor gs mini. I've owned 4 gs minis and they are "almost" worth the money. Can't play them live. This signature x is awesome and worth the money. The lx1 and lxk2 are really for kids. This one is for everyone. I compared specs for the signature x vs the lx1e and while it appears they are very similar; they are not! I even played classical music on it at home unplugged and it sounded so sweet I wanted to get rid of all my high end stuff. So all thumbs up and good for Martin to make a great little guitar finally.

Nice guitar, but needs a good setup

Comments about X Series Ed Sheeran X Signature Edition Little Martin Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Very nice guitar, very well built and feels high quality. The sound is nice for what it is, but don't think it'll sound like a full size. It gets pretty loud, especially with a pick and a heavy strum, but the tone isn't all there. Now plugged in it sounds like any other acoustic-electric I've used, since you can shape the tone. That's where this guitar shines is plugged in. Acoustically it sounds nice as well, but you can get a better acoustic tone in a full size guitar for the same amount of money. However if you need a travel guitar, look no further. The padded gig bag is very nice, and up to par with other $40-50 soft bags I've purchased in the past. Guitar doesn't come with a truss rod wrench, so you'll need to get one. The truss rod is in the sound hole and buried deep, you'll need an extra long (3-4") 5mm hex wrench to adjust. I bought a 5" at Lowes and it was too long, had to finagle it in the sound hole and use a crescent wrench to turn. Which leads me to my 1 star deduction. The neck had very little relief from the get go, and even with 13's and the truss rod completely loose, I have less than 0.008" relief (whereas I prefer 0.010-0.012"). You wouldn't think that small amount would make a difference but it does. I was able to lower the action to about 5/64" on the bass side and 3/64" on the treble side measured at the 12th fret with a bit of sanding on the saddle (it was originally about 8/64" bass side and 6/64" treble side, too high for my liking). Keep in mind I did some fret leveling and recrowning to get to this point. There is a bit of buzz at this height if strummed hard with a pick, but no buzz hand strummed hard or soft (which wouldn't be the case with a proper relief). Luckily the neck was straight enough to do some fret leveling, which was fine up until the point where the neck meets the body, where it looks like the neck is bent backwards a bit, causing a bulge where they joint. Leveling at these lower frets is virtually impossible. Guess it needs a shim (which I'm not going to do). Also, the action at the nut was too high, making that dreaded F barre chord too difficult. I had to file them down a bit. The fret ends were dressed well, and smooth, no sharp ends, but the frets themselves were in desperate need of a polishing. 16" fret board radius if you're wondering, and the string radius at neck and bridge were spot on. All in all, this guitar needed quite a bit of setup to get playing the way I like it. It plays great now, but it took some work. Action was way too high both at the saddle and nut, and proper truss rod adjustment is not possible with the natural bow of the neck, not enough relief or adjustment.

Comments about X Series Ed Sheeran X Signature Edition Little Martin Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This Ed Sheeran guitar is absolutely beautiful. It also sounds fantastic acoustically or plugged in! This is a 3/4 sized guitar so make sure you know that before you purchase. I knew this ahead of time and I have not been disappointed. The built in tuner/pickup is really nice and the guitar plays and sounds like a dream. I highly recommend it!

Do not leave this guitar in a cold space. This will cause the guitar to fall out of tune quite easily. If you take care of this guitar it will take care of you. Transitioning from a very used and beaten up hand me down guitar, this guitar is a miracle to me. Having struggled with forming barre chords in the past, this Ed Sheeran little Martin is a dream allow me to zip up and down the neck hardly having to worry about finger pain or positioning.

I play this in the bar all the time and everyone loves it. great form factor and when my hands get tired or I want more reach than I can comfortably get with my Gibson songwriter deluxe its my "go to" guitar. Also great for the singer songwriter percussive complementary subtle looping thing...awesome!. You cannot go wrong adding this to your arsenal. n fact since the top wears out so easily I want a few more in different woods to spred out the love ! tip: Buy a hard shell case for it.

My daughter asked for the Ed Sheeran X signature model for Christmas to add to her collection of guitars. She's a big fan of both Martin Guitars and Ed Sheeran. The Little Martin is awesome, full of rich tone, and performs every bit as well as you'd expect fom Martin and more !
