The result: great-sounding, great-playing guitars, that are environmentally friendly, and priced to fly out the door. This is one of Martin's best values ever. The 6-string X Series DXK2AE Dreadnought Left-Handed acoustic-electric guitar features a D-14 platform, a dreadnought body design producing big, rounded sound. Pairing the Hawaiian koa-pattern HPL top with the koa-pattern HPL back and sides, the Martin DXK2AE guitar belts out rich clarity and plenty of projection. The mortise and tennon neck joint ensures solid construction of the guitar, with optimal resonant tone, while eliminating drop-off in the finer dynamics.
The X Series DXK2AE Dreadnought Left-Handed guitar's stratabond neck is a multilayered wood creation, bonding layers of wood under extremely high pressure. The material is then carved and finished in a conventional manner. The end result is a very strong neck that provides definition and articulate sustain from note to note.
The modified low oval neck shape, 25.4 in. scale, 1-11/16 in. nut width, and 16 in. radius provide comfort and dexterity when performing intricate movements and progressions along the black Richlite fretboard.
This X Series lefty Martin guitar features proven Sonicore pick-up technology with the Fishman Sonitone system featuring "easy access" volume and tone controls conveniently and strategically located just inside the sound hole.

Comments about Martin X Series DXK2AE Left-Handed Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I thought I would write a review for all the lefties considering this guitar. I have been a player for nearly 20 years and am quite critical when it comes to guitar tone, but I find this guitar to be a good buy for what it is. This guitar sounds quite nice. It is not a loud guitar unplugged but it is clear and fairly round. Not as bright as a spruce top (which is ok by me) but still bright enough to be well defined. I play a seagull s6 cedar top which is a thicker louder guitar but this one is a little less muddy as the strings begin to wear. I have a couple small complaints however. The action was a little high (nothing a truss rod tweak can't fix), and the battery compartment for the preamp is in a bag inside the guitar. If the battery dies, it will be a pain to get at when strings are on the guitar. I will just replace the battery everytime the guitar gets new strings to avoid this. Also the nut seems to be plastic and I will probably upgrade to a bone nut at some point. There is also no eq for the preamp, just tone and volume located inside the sound hole, but it should be no problem getting the right tone through and amp or mixer. I like the stratabond neck, it is comfortable for me at least, and the intonation was nearly perfect. The fishman preamp sounds very good in my opinion but I have played this mostly unplugged so far, but am looking forward to giving it a shot onstage. The top, sides, back, and fretboard are not solid wood, so this could be a turnoff for some, but if you are a lefty like me then there are not many options in this price range especially if you are trying to stay away from a spruce top. I bought this to be a back up to my seagull and I am sure it will do fine at that. It seems durable and I wouldn't be afraid to take it on stage. I paid 385 for it on sale and feel it is a good value for a guitar in this price range especially if you want the martin name. I always recommend playing before you buy, but if you can't I would recommend this guitar. You always have 30 days to change your mind. I hope this helps you fellow lefties out there!
